ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Roman Petrov To All 14 December 1997

Hello! Dear All!

Everything, I uploaded the Sam Coupe emulator to the last section.
I hope the moderators won’t mind that I slightly exceeded the dose
90kb per day.

PS I downloaded Lyra 3. Teledisc - MD! I couldn't copy it to a real disk! I don’t want to upload to the echo and I won’t (about 520kb - the moderator
will probably kill me even for partial uploading).

PEOPLE! How to deal with Teledisk? How can I make it go on my car?
The car is a stump 150 MHz.

PPS If someone splits the Teledisk format - please, don’t regret it, throw it to me!
I’ll make a converter td0->trd, td0->dsk, td0->fdi and vice versa. I can’t split it myself - I don’t know the pisish asm.

PPPS Who wants software - look at ftp://ftp.nvg.unit.no You can also search
on the line Sam Coupe. Infoseek gave me 119 links, which I have not yet fully checked.

With respect, Roman aka Megus of Brain Wave corp.

Long life and prosperity to you Roman!

RP> PEOPLE! How to deal with Teledisk? How can I get him to drive my car?
RP> The car is a stump 150 MHz.

Teledisk 2.15 works perfectly for me on the 150th. Previous versions work, but crash when the bus frequency is more than 50 MHz. So lower the frequency or use slowers. But I haven’t tried this.

Yes, one letter flew right here. I will repeat it:

Hello ALL!

The topic of our lecture today will be the wonderful program
Teledisk v2.11. But seriously, the proprietary version of this program
does not work on processors with a clock frequency higher than 50 MHz and thus greatly interferes with the exchange of Spectrum programs recorded
in non-standard disk formats...

Having disassembled this miracle, I I found the subprogram that causes all this to happen...

This subppogpamma improves the performance of ppocessop-
calculates the delay constant when working with the flop controller
for two other subprograms.

The whole trouble is that it calculates complete nonsense - after all
nobody imagined in 1990 that this program would have to
work at a frequency of 200 MHz, and that processors of the next generations
(486 and Pentium) will execute the same instructions in a much (!)
fewer number of clock cycles...

Now let’s talk about how to fix this matter...
Instead of the selected subroutine fragment, you need to insert
the following:

--------------------
B8 0002 MOV AX,#0200
2E A3 12 00 MOV CS:DATA_726,AX
FB STI
90 NOP
90 NOP ...
--------------------

I didn’t calculate anything, but did it in a simple way - fixed
delay! (selected experimentally)

For the 5x86-133-P75 processor the delay value is #0200,
for the P166MMX processor the delay had to be increased to #0400!

I wish you success!

============[ but this is the end of TELEDISK.TXT ]============

I tried it, it reads better, however. But version 1.15 generally works well for me. On P166 MMX.

Bye, Vladimir :)

... Now you can power the computerdisable...

I’ve already cured it - I disable the caches and everything is OK.
