Sam Coupe Emulator!
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Roman Petrov → To All 5 December 1997
Hello! Dear All!
I found Subj on the internet. I looked at it, played around with BASIC and a natural question arose: how can I use disks in it? I even downloaded a program: Samdisk
is called. This is why it is designed to copy real disks into virtual ones. I even downloaded some td0, even wrote it to a real disk, but Samdisk, damn it, doesn’t want to read it. It's a shame, damn it.
PS If there is a desire and permission from the moderator, I can throw it (the emulator) into the echo
(in the archive: Emulator, Samdisk, Surprise demo (by ESI), Utils.td0).
All this is 272 kilos.

That would be nice.
PS: But ESI was also “dumped” on SAM. Shock calls it the best
eight-bit computer.

Greetings, Roman! ─────────────────────── ───────────────────
In ancient times (05 Dec 97), Ser Roman wrote on the scroll All,
Bequeathing "Sam Coupe Emulator!", and today (07 Dec 97) I decided intervene:

And not only in Shock, but also in Lyra II.
That’s actually the criterion by which I was looking for a demo for Subj: I remember that ESI
was blamed on Sam and they mentioned a certain Surprise Demo, so I downloaded it.
PS I’m surprised at the stupidity of the PC - Sam’s Teledisk disc was recorded for me (even 2 pieces, although identical - just in case), but Samdisk cannot read them!
The Sdir utility (as I understand it is something like hobets, probably) perfectly reads the
catalog (although sometimes it glitches, but this is almost unimportant ;-) But the biggest joke is that the Spectrum McDonald Copy Sam's disk was copied for me perfectly and without a single glitch. Based on this, MAV
and I tried to create something like Samdisk on Specky, but glitches ;-) Read
reads, but write :-(
PPS And the format of Sam's disks is this: on a track there are 10 sectors of 512 bytes each.
In general, like IS-Dos, but only there are more sectors and they less.

Roman is that you?
...why were you telling Sergei Novikov about Sam Coupe Emulator! ?

It’s interesting how you worded it.... About more and less, respectively..
Less - 400 bytes per sector? :)
Good Luck...

Well, everything is correct: IS-Dos has 5 kilobytes per track, and Sam has 5 kilobytes each.
But iS-Dos has 5 sectors of 1 kilobyte each, and Sam has 10 sectors of 512 bytes each.
