Conference rules ZX.SPECTRUM, edition dated 24 Aug 97.

The main purpose of the conference is correspondence between admirers
of the good old computer Sinclair ZX Spectrum.

Additional - discussion of HE-IBM platforms|architectures,
discussion of any HOMEMADE computers.

■ TOPIC:

- everything related to the immortal creation of Sir Clive Sinclair;
- everything related to any 8-bit computers;
- everything related to homemade computers, even IBM-compatible ones;
- everything related to computers with a bit size greater or less than 8,
except for IBM-compatible ones.

And, due to the specifics of the above:

- everything related to copying and restoring storage media
(including floppy disks) of various formats, creating their image files,
transferring information from such media, as well as discussion
of the issues arising in this case.

Note: A little advertising is allowed.

■ INFORMATION (except for the actual correspondence) PERMITTED
FOR POSTING IN THE CONFERENCE:

According to the TOPIC.

■ FORM OF INFORMATION EXCHANGE - PROGRAMS/CODES/FILES:

The following is accepted at the ZX.SPECTRUM conference:
- basic form: UUENCODE in sections of no more than 100-130
lines of archives received by _IBM_compatible_ (!) archivers,
files either in the Hobeta format (HOBETA), or in the tape/disk image
formats of the most common Spectrum emulators
_on_IBM-PC_, or text. The subject (Subj.) of a message
containing a uencode _must_ begin_ (!) with [xx/yy],
where xx is the number of the uencode section, yy is the total number of sections;

- placement in the conference of voluminous (more than 128 kb) materials _only_
_after_ preliminary agreement with the moderator;

- use of UUKodes of _other_forms_ of information presentation
_only_after_ preliminary agreement with the moderator;

- use of UUKodes of archives received by the Spectrum-
compatible archiver ZXZIP is allowed. The use of other
Spectrum-compatible archivers for this purpose is PROHIBITED _until_the_appearance_
of _corresponding_IBM-compatible_ archivers and subsequent
permission of the moderator.

NOTE: If communication with the AUTHOR of the posted material is possible,
then it is advisable to obtain it prior consent
in order to prevent one or another violation of copyright
rights.
In any case, the moderator or moderators in principle
cannot be held responsible for violation of copyright
participants of the conference due to its post-moderation.

■ DISTRIBUTION:

The echo conference ZX.SPECTRUM is distributed:
- among sysops of nodes and sysops of points of any networks, both related
to FIDO-net and not related, if these networks show conference
interest, and an agreement will be reached with the moderator.
The conference is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for subscription for nodes (NODE)
or points (POINT) with BBS.
- access to it by BBS users is _MANDATORY_ for subscribed
stations with BBS;
- gating to ANY network is WELCOME with prior
approval from the moderator.

■ PROHIBITED: (in brackets - type of punishment)

- (!) obscene expressions and expressions that CAN BE INTERPRETED
as such. FOR ONE WORD like this - a shutdown for a month.
The decision on INTERPRETATION is made by the moderator or comoderators
and only them.
Replacing obscene words with icons like "@#th" IS NOT ALLOWED
and IS EQUALIMATED with the use of the replaced word.
Be correct and restrained !

- (!) expressions that CAN BE INTERPRETED as a personal insult
to anyone, for example, on ethnic grounds. Shutdown
for a month, if there are no “aggravating” circumstances - other violations
in the same letter. Here tooequates to an expression of PERSONAL
HATE towards any of the conference participants or
potential participants ;

- (!) initiating and maintaining various squabbles;

- (+) disrespectful statements about the Sinclair ZX Spectrum
and to Sir Clive Sinclair ;

- (+) comparison, or rather, pitting different platforms|architectures
against each other in the spirit of: "XXX - rulez, YYY - sax and mastday!" ... It's hard to put
the correct date on your car. When sorting, your letters end up
the hell out of nowhere - this is very “annoit” :( No objections regarding
a malfunction or a dead battery are accepted - these are _your_
difficulties;

- (+) alias in the By: (or From:) line, that is, the letter
_not_from_ the real name - if you really want, the letter can
_sign_ with a pseudonym.
The only exception to this rule is made for
Andrey (MOA) Larchenko ;

- (*) personal correspondence in the echo area - there is a netmail for this ;

- (*) letters with the Pvt flag ;

-message is not on the topic of the conference (OFFTOPIC). The list of prohibited
topics and the type of punishment for messages on these topics can be published
separately ;

- (+) topic: AMIGA and everything connected with it - TEMPORARY OFFTO-PIC!
(God knows - I didn’t want to, but I was forced) ;

- (+) topic: Re-election of moderators|commodators - CONTINUOUS OFF-TOPIC.
As long as I am alive, I will be engaged in “sinclair”, and therefore this
conference;

- other typical violations according to the current echo policy
with appropriate punishments.

The decision on punishment is made by the moderator or comoderators and only they.
When disconnected (!) the NODE that allowed an offending letter
to appear in the conference is disconnected, even if the letter comes from POINT and|or its user.
If the violation comes from a moderator or comoderator node,
then such a node is switched to READ-ONLY mode, with the ability to write
letters only by the moderator|comoderator, so that the conference did not remain
unattended.
If the violation comes from the hub node, then the node must be switched
to PASSTHRU mode for THIS conference for the specified time, so as not to
interfere with its distribution.

■ LANGUAGES:

Russian. Let's accept English with the optional answer in English.

INTENTIONAL DISTORTION (COVERAGE) of the Russian languageis considered
as a violation. The judgment about intentionality is made by the moderator and only he.

Do not be afraid of this point - whoever is guilty of defacement of their native language -
they themselves know this very well!

■ WHAT IS NOT PROHIBITED IS ALLOWED:

Otherwise, the rules of ECHOPOLICY and the basic rules apply conferences
of region 50 to the extent that they do not contradict the above.

■ MODERATION:

The conference is _post_moderated_ with all the ensuing
consequences, in particular in terms of possible violation
of copyright by its participants.

■ MODERATOR and COMODERATORS:

Letters containing certain instructions, demands or punishments
from the above names are considered official and binding
for execution. Using the names "Moderator" or "CoModerator"
for this purpose is desirable, but not required.
Indicating a city does not mean that a particular moderatorcannot
“use power” in relation to a violator from another area.
The list of moderators can be expanded.
