HellO!

I somehow lost two VG93 (and all because I had no protection)
I went to the market for another VGshka, bought it without thinking (it was getting more expensive
dirty) I put it in the panel, turn it on BA-BANG!!! I have TURBODOS!!!!
as always, of course, I’m not surprised by such “insanities”; I’ve already had such cases
I’ve had them often =)
in general, the test shows a delay of 3ms, the drives are quiet and quiet!
can someone explain this attack with the VGshka?

You mean, 5 without 12? It’s better to solder a diode to the board for this.

Similarly. Only it didn’t work in my stand for even 10 minutes!
And the symptoms on the non-turbo Scorpio were similar!

There is an interesting feature of the imported VG93.
They have -5..7 volts sitting on 1 leg, the load is kept up to 2-3 miliamps.
Who will explain this...???

Bye... bye bye, Sersh !

Well, let's put it this way, I haven't come across cases where there were 12 without 5, because if
a person turned on the computer and no image appeared, he would immediately turn it off.
But if 5 comes, but there is no 12, then 10 seconds is enough, and the VG is in
heaven.

Well, it was the other way around for me, since it’s problematic to not notice when you turn on
the Spectrum the absence of 5 volts, it just won’t work, that there will be
signals to turn off the power. On the contrary, it will very well be.

And what was most interesting was that I
didn’t have any Siemens chips... :) But what was there was a bunch of Kievsky microcircuitsplant
"Crystal" (there they also have a diode designation on the label). And these microcircuits
were from our local radio dump in Kirovgrad. Everything was brought there
from almost the entire union at one time. These microcircuits were obviously from the very first batches, probably experimental ones. Among the heaps of cases with an elementary
lack of contact with the crystal, there were copies with an inverted
crystal exactly the opposite, which worked perfectly. Maybe they used imported crystals in the first batches? An interesting feature -
these m-circuits _really_ outputted -5 volts to 1 pin - it was possible
to power something very_low_consuming, such as -5 V for the i8080 :)
Now this voltage is not output...
So there DRQ worked as written - the track was read - absolutely brilliant!
Behind the sector data area after CRC and one byte 4Eh (or 00 - I don’t remember exactly
:) there was a synchronization failure (the recording was turned off, and if you read
immediately after formatting, then there was no failure), then on the header marker
everything was synchronized again - we see the title is like in a book.
Then again a breakdown - they turned on recording, recording sector data - again
synchronization on the marker and sector data. Etc.

Exactly, exactly! If any clever defender added anything after
CRC, then this addition was wonderfully visible, because was still
synchronized.

Well, it happens. I had three pieces, from one batch of VG, so all three burned out somewhere around the fifth time the power was turned on with a fully working
ambient circuit. :-))) And there was a funny incident: I was repairing a computer, and an element at the
input via an IP signal (I don’t remember the exact signal) broke through to the ground. There was no such thing, so I wired it directly to the VG directly from the drive, and the resistor was set to +5, and it still works. :-)))

vg-he really doesn’t like the absence of one voltage in the presence of the second (in
the sense of 5 and 12). I once installed diodes directly on its legs, so that only both voltages were guaranteed to be supplied at the same time. third year already

They were supplied simultaneously there anyway. In this place, another WB has been operating for two years without changing anything. They were just bad from the beginning.

No, only individual VGs burn during this time, and there are a considerable number
of just such units, and the computers work.
