ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Andrew Savichev To All 7 January 1998

Hi, All! program, it is also assumed, I won’t say
AS> that there is criminal, but administrative liability for sure.
>AS> And on the part of the authors it is a very correct decision, since control over
>AS> compliance with copyright on a fresh and one position is a much more
>AS> easy thing.
ML>Maybe it’s correct, but I don’t want to say that about Slava Mednonogov’s products
ML>. IMHO, this is the only game maker in Russia who does
ML>really GOOD things, and that’s the only thing you can pay him for.
Where does it say that you don’t and can’t pay? If you have been carefully reading the echo
for the last six months, you could not ignore our discussions about network trading,
as well as about the problem of “unreadable protected disks” 486 and higher (virtual
Spectrums).
And if Slava made such a decision, then he obviously weighed all the pros and cons.
Vyacheslav Mednonogov is not just a software maker, even if he is very good, but also
a figure in SpectrumWorld.
So, the fight againstpiracy is now one of the most important strategic tasks.
I support him in this fight!
Limiting the duration of EXCLUSIVE copyrights is a successful tactical
move! This is a blow to pirates - one, this is the great sympathy of users - two (a person thinks about the future, not about the past: any real author can only live like this - in the confidence that his most brilliant creation has not yet been created), this is finally an incentive for the development of everyone - three! (like: “Mednonogov himself gave it to people, and you are shaking for some thread of your old program”).
And finally, “the process has begun” with the light hand of Yu. Matveev, and this man cares about
Spectrum as about a dear and close being.
I ask all the mentioned personalities not to read these laudatory verses in prose -
that’s not what they are for written down, but I just see that not all of our people can determine
at least the direction of thoughts of the “old people” :) - oh, young and green ;)
>Name me at least one program that in terms of scale and quality
can compete with UFO I-II, Black Raven. Unless "Star Heritage".
You need to work..."in any genius, 99% of the work" - the words are not mine... "people are divided
into those who love science in themselves and those who love themselves in science" - again
not said by me.
If we take this as a rule, then
new stars will shine among Spectrum software makers- I have no doubt about it!

Have a good hunt everyone! Andrey S./CGS
