Letters 16

ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Sergei Novikov To All 4 May 1997

Howdy, All!

Hmmm... [Long pause]

Yes, in SPF22 there will be (should be!) an article similar to “REVIEW, ugh, SURVEY #2”,
only 10K larger (conclusion: many changes & additions, only new letters
(38-43) not taken into account - laziness ;((( )

2DG&YM: Did I remember to send it to you? ;) Sclerosis!

bomber

SN> - Favorite domestic game.

Star Heritage

SN> - What kind of games do you prefer: strategic, text,
SN>dizzi-like or something else?

It’s hard to say, but in any case not the “break your joystick” class

SN> - How are you inclined towards adventure games?

Again, it depends on how well the game is conceived and made

SN> - How do you feel about ripping off games from other platforms, which we see in
SN> lately? Should we continue like this or should we do something
SN> original,
SN> our own?

I don’t see anything particularly reprehensible in this if the result is of
quality. You just don’t need to go to extremes and set the sole goal to create an “exact copy” or “a complete non-copy.” It's worth doing not so much
original as things that are interesting and worthy of their consumers.

SN> - Your favorite musician.

there is more than one..

SN> - The coolest demo, in your opinion.

'satisfaction' by CBs

SN> - Which Spectrum artist's works do you value most?

I didn't pay too much attention on the names of artists, but it seems that there is not a single
indisputable leader among them

SN> - Recently, a huge number of computer
SN> magazines have appeared. Which one do you like the most?

probably Spectrophone

SN> - List the computer magazines that you have ever read
SN> (except Enigma, of course :). If you want, you can write a few words about
SN> each.

oh, there were so many of thema lot.. in general, ending with all sorts of Adventurers and Oberons

SN> - Do you buy computer magazines from
SN> 1) authors or their distributors,
SN> 2) pirates,
SN> 3) I don’t buy them, but I take them from friends or get them from Fido.
SN> 4) I don’t read at all

I (unfortunately or fortunately) I have never bought software. as soon as
something appears, someone will give it away.. ;)

SN> - Your favorite newspaper.

'Lenin Sparks'

Unlike the Samara professionals, I do not consider this nomination significant.

SN> - Whose intros do you like the most?

Actually, the original ones, originally written by the authors of the program. and that's all.

SN> - Which intro (whose and for which game) did you remember most and
SN> did you like (the time of release does not matter)?

most likely it was the series of horror films 'Anton Vasilyev is the best'

SN> - Do you like computer novels? Which one did you like most
SN> of all (you can even indicate several here if the need arises
SN>)? [Please also indicate the source - a magazine or
SN> newspaper.]

I never became a fan of this literary genre. This is probably from the time of the first opuses on elite (it’s very hard to understand how you can write entire adventure novels looking at these dots and sticks?)

SN> - A bit of a strange question. Which game existing on other
SN> platforms would you like to see on the Spectrum?

doom/deathmatch (from the principle ;)

SN> - Let’s say you can buy a pirated version of a certain program for 10
SN> thousand and a branded one for 11 (the pirated version is no different
SN> from the original one in terms of quality and volume). Which one will you choose? (terribly interesting question
SN> - answer honestly, pls :)

honestly - I’ll choose two beers

SN> - Is it worth subsequently conducting the same survey in echo and after
SN> how long?

With netmail it looks more natural. frequency? probably not as soon as the results of the previous one are summed up, but rather not before the last one is forgotten
