Peters 31 may
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Denis Parinov (812/08.16) → To All 31 May 1997
* Message from gate SpbZxNet<=>FidoNet.
Well, another meeting took place about
the new Sprinter computer. True, issues
related to the operating system were never
discussed :(. This was due to the small
activity of the so-called Spectrum elite.
Apparently many could not resist attending
the festivities that took place on this day in St. Petersburg. But in principle, not everything is so bad,
it was possible to explain to the general public
the prospects of the new computer. And when everyone
finally realized the power of the new computer,
the eyes began to take on a slightly square shape!
Phrases like “well, of course I thought
that it would be good, but I didn’t expect this!!!
8-( )” were heard.
The main event of the day was the presentation of
a new graphic mode, the essence of which is the following: by depicting some
figure (its contours) on the screen, the computer will instantly fill
it with the selected color, which allows an order of magnitude
increase in writing games with vector graphics.
A very fruitful discussion was also held between development engineer Ivan
Makarenko and Mr. RUSTER on various
graphic gains (mainly from the Amiga).
There was increased activity and with Hacker Cris's side on the issues of screen structure, but
after some debate, the current structure
is completelysatisfied.
The "Mortal Combat" demo was launched on 14 Mhz!
Which everyone quite liked and after
short conversations the authors expressed the possibility
of releasing the game for Sprinter.
Unfortunately, we did not have time to develop a discussion with
SpbZxNet coordinator - Alex Mikhailov on
the opening of the Peters BBS in networks. I found out that
Arno was present at the meeting only when
his trace had already disappeared :(, which is a pity.
2Alex Mikhailov: There was a problem ;).
Questions were raised about X-TRADE
products and their implementation under Sprinter, but again Slava
was not present at the meeting and the question remained open.
Well, in general, the meeting was cordial In a friendly
environment, Amigniks and PCs got along quite well
and enjoyed the new stage in
the life of the Sinclairists!
Sincerely, Denis.

To my great regret, due to technical reasons, I couldn’t be there
:( therefore, the immediate question is: When is the next time?

IMHO, you should not forget that in addition to Vicomm-compatible modems, they also install
Hayes-compatible modems on the spec, and in addition, many Sinclairists, without a modem on the spec,
use other computers for communication, so I offer my BBS as a support BBS for your computer... (please respond)

Happy connections.
Roman.

VM> Denis, can you enlighten me about the HDD launch promised by the 31st
VM>? And in general, how is the work being carried out
Well, the Peters kept their promise, all the demos were loaded from the screw!
And as Nikolai Noskov said, they removed the screw from some
pisishka and installed it on Sprinter without any special preparations,
Ivan only had to connect it with TR DOS.
VM> with MS-DOS, what are the possible commands? (It seemed to me

VM> so?)
I don’t remember the syntax from memory, but at the moment it happens like this:
when accessing a file (MS-DOS), it is read into memory and a RAM disk is organized, and
then TR-DOS works with it as with a regular disk. But of course there will be
direct work with FAT.
DP>> Makarenko and Mr. RUSTER'om on various
DP>> graphical gains (mainly from the Amiga).
VM> Yes, but they wanted to do better right away :(
Don’t be sad, good experience never hurts, but about
better - I’ll allow myself a small leak information.
The Peters found Zilog 380: address 32bit data 16bit, compatible
with Z80, but these are just plans.

VM>No, well, even if it suited Alex!
:) I don’t know how about it suited me, but after the debate, which at first
seemed very inconvenient, turned out to be very useful.
VM> With warm greetings, Slava.
