"Parallel market" (users-pirates-hackers)
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Andrew Savichev → To All 14 March 1998
Hi, All!
Here some gentlemen are constantly trying to create an image of me as a
romantic, cut off from the sinful earth ;)
They forced...romance to simply live _safer_, gentlemen! :)
Why does everything work for pirates and works great?
Yes, because in fact there are already two software markets on the Spectrum.
One chain: author -> trader -> “naive” user
and the other hacker -> pirate -> “practical” user
Yes, moreover, in fact, it often happens like this:
from the author’s point of view
author -> trader -> user
but in fact
trader -> pirate -> hacker -> users are absolutely everyone who has not yet
bought ;)
But this parallel market rests on the MESS and the indiscriminateness of buyers
whom, as long as it’s cheaper!
By reducing the number of their buyers, we infringe on their interests!
After all, what is everything based on for them?
On the understanding of all people that the fact that “fresh stuff” is more expensive, then cheaper
and old stuff is “for free”.
If it’s almost “for free” right away, then everything goes to hell! :)
Where can a simple spektrumist get practically free software?
The answer is - on networks and in particular with the help of the SNS project!
SNS removes unnecessary buyers from the market, primarily lovers of freebies.
That is, it contributes to the improvement of the marketAND EXPANSION OF NETWORKS :)
Those who need a real product, not a freebie, come to the market.
And on the other hand, in order to sell at decent prices, you need a product
of appropriate quality.
And for the goods received at higher prices, traders and authors will gain
the strength necessary for a showdown with pirates.
Whoever has the money has the power! and whoever has the power has the money!!!
And now the pirates have the power :(
That’s why bazaars on this topic are fruitless.
SNS also removes from the market authors who are not able to receive HIGH fees from traders
HIGH fees.
They will receive their “pennies”, and without nerves in SNS!
The most talented of them WILL BE ABLE TO DICTATE THEIR CONDITIONS for traders.
Here is the truth in all its unsightliness.
And also, I’m closing the topic about pirates.
Preaching about the destruction of pirates in a pirate country?
It’s easier to turn stones into gold.
But remember, gentlemen pirates, that the end will come if you don’t change the situation.
The fact is that the West CONTINUES to write software for the pussy, but for the Spectrum -
no. Therefore, any analogies with pee and the market for pirated software
for pee are ILLEGAL!
With respect, Andrey Savichev/CGS

One thing, there are not so many buyers for software (except for CV, 3H, and similar hits) so as to weed out the “extra” from this number. It’s easier to work
to make the software cheaper in some way so that its price will suit
even the freeloading buyers (not all of them, of course, but at least the majority).
This can be achieved by increasing the number of traders who have bought
software from the author. As a result, the trader reduces distribution costs, and
there is an opportunity to sell software cheaper, which is at the same time
competition for the pirate, given his low price for software.

Since the quantity does not return buyers, then there is still a shortage of funds
to pay for expensive high-quality software, which in essence we already have,
and no improvement is expected.

Or, due to high prices, they will drive the buyer away from themselves, due to the fact that the
pirate price is lower.
AS> He who has the money has the power! and whoever has the power has the money!!!
AS> And the power now belongs to the pirates :(
And it will probably remain, without solving the problems I described.

The problem is that there are never many authors, but right now, let's face it, there are not many of them.
