And what does it do? I've heard rumors about the existence of a program that, after

VS> Isn’t this the one that was supposed to corrupt all the programs on the floppy disk so that the game would start instead of them?
VS>? If yes, then he hasn’t worked on everything yet...
VS> And if not, is it possible to be more specific?
Most likely, this is not the same one. This one:
1) Intercepts the loading of the program.
2) Searches for and infects the first uninfected program (if the disk is not write-protected, if it is protected, then this step is skipped).
3) Transfers control to the bootloader of the host program.
More in detail, in the Kharkov magazine "ZX Power".

Here is part of the text that I tore out from the body of the virus:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS VIRUS HAS BEEN PROGRAMMED ON THE 7TH OF NOVEMBER 1993
CONGRATULATIONS! YOUR SPECCY NOW LOOKS LIKE A IBM PC, BECAUSE
IT INFECTED WITH WRITTEN BY * HACKERS' SQUAD * -- BEST PROGRAMMERS OF

All: have you ever come across a virus that resolders boards?
:)
The worst thing a stupid programmer who writes viruses can do in Sinclair
is ruin the floppy disk!
If I’m wrong, throw a stone at me, or better yet, throw soap at me with the most terrible ZX virus
and I’ll definitely run it on all of my speckah

EM> In general, you’re kidding
EM> in vain. I was also kidding and kidding, and when I saw the virus, then

Well, what did you start doing? If I were you, I would reformat the floppy disk and forget
about it.
Ksati, for fundamental protection against viruses, you need to switch back to working with
a tape recorder, preferably without an IR remote control, otherwise you never know.. :)
People are already being scared by burnt LEDs F:-O - however, the worst virus
is you yourself. More than one VIR will not cause as many troubles as all sorts of modifications and expansions of his ZX
performed personally or by close friends.
(Judging by myself :)
And from these upgrades, failures to pass the SMOC test and other troubles begin
(including burnt-out LEDs in the FDD)

Actually, I already wrote about this a week ago ;) It doesn't burn anything - it's
simply unrealistic. It simply reads the disk directory every time it boots, remembers the checksum and compares it with the previous value. If the amount is different,
the counter adds. Deciding that the game has already been transferred from disk to disk enough, it crashes some BASIC file that satisfies certain
conditions (it didn’t spoil games with a monoloader, for some reason it first of all “inhabited” the Masma loader with STS, and then it stuck with ADM... I don’t know,
maybe it’s specifically looking for hacker software ;) The infected file should, in theory,
show a picture proving the authors' kRuToSt, but for some reason it didn't show
something they didn't think through to the end - I don't remember the details, it was a long time ago...

Well, first of all, dude. ;) I don’t know what you checked there, but the “write protection” signal from the drive to the controller is not supplied, which means that the disk drive still begins the erase/write operation and only then breaks off. There's no need to argue about this, just look at the diagram, that's all.
Secondly. IMHO, “chips from the trash heap” have nothing to do with it - then nothing
