Who knows?

ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Andrey Khristov To All 13 January 1998

Hi, All!

I somehow came across information about the installation of MSX DOS on the Pentagon 128.
And now the question is - is there an MSX DOS port for ATM Turbo????

With best wishes - Andrey Khristov (ha...@robin.alt.ru)

Andrey is that you?
...why did you tell Nickolay Zabrodotsky about Who Knows? ?

AK> I only saw a book, and at a distance...

it’s also Microsoft’s, afaik...

Good Luck...

AK> So what? It is written for Z80. For the port, you just need to correct the video output,
AK> keyboard and disk (in general, half :)))

and what do we get? Same basic, only side view. :))) Toys won't
work ;) And some features won't work.

Good Luck...

Have there been any attempts to make MSKh - DOZ for specs?
And Misix is not UNIX for MSKh?
Then the question arises of Unix under Spectrum...

You're thinking narrowly.
MSXDOS has development tools, and its file system is somewhat
more efficient than TRDOS.

And you somehow grow out of toys over time...

Isn't it easier to port these tools to your native Spectrum axis?

AK> And you somehow grow out of toys over time...

So yes. And from Spectrums too.

Good Luck...

... MS-DOS is to a real OS as "creation science" is to paleontology.

NZ> Were there any attempts to make MSKh - DOZ for specs?

Since I saw a book on how to do it, apparently there were.

NZ> And Misix is not UNIX for MSKh for an hour ?

No. Just an OS more different than MSXDOS. If I find the URL, I'll give you a look.

NZ> Then the question of Unix for the Spectrum arises...

We tried it. There was one. True, applied tasks no longer fit into memory, but
the core was moving...

Who tried it and where? If it’s on the 128th, then it’s understandable, but I, for example, have GRM512.
And I don’t mind having something extended. Where can I get information on
this topic. ?

Casually, all progress died in the centuries. Maybe the author is somewhere here,
among us...
