PF>> memory. Alas...
AL> But no! It’s a cool system, and the possibilities are endless.
In principle, I don’t argue, and I even feel sorry for it because of just one mistake.
The system does not support working with additional memory, and programs
can only reside in it. But at the same time they spoil the ramdisk, without which it is very difficult to work. And it’s less convenient to work in page memory than in lower memory. In addition, there is no way, say, to load
directly into the page - the system itself is in this ill-fated window. So, alas, this is a very big mistake that kills her to death. And it is impossible to fix it - the system will not be compatible with older versions at all. In addition, to organize the allocation of page memory, all addresses in the system related to the allocation of a memory area (for example, channel addresses) must become 24-bit. In my system, I overcame this, and in the newly created resource allocation library EXEC.LIB, the upper
memory addressing will be 32-bit - for the future.

Well, as for memory, everything is a little better: on a Pro with 1 MB, you drive the disk into the frame,
and you work in a text editor, faster than on PC in the lexicon, and
if also turbo! It also works quickly with the printer, and Picasso is generally a mess.

By the way. Just recently I found a wonderful opportunity to work with IS-DOS on an IBM computer.
So, the procedure:
1) Take the IS-DOS boot floppy disk.
2) Launch UKV, which can work with disk images (.fdi)
3) Load IS-DOS.
4) Launch create.com (in IS-DOS, of course) and using it
we create an IS-DOS disk on a tr-Dos disk image. Naturally, you will get
is-dos without
autoloading.
5) We copy everything you need from the floppy disk onto it.
6) In the emulator we throw everything that is in memory into .z80 and telemarket!
To work with is-dos, you need the following - start the VHF, load into it
.z80 with is-dosom and work on a virtual disk. Rulez is amazing. Isdos probably works the same way on a scorpion with a screw. :)
So far I have not found any glitches that could arise from this. But, just in case, the method is as is. :)
With all kinds of regards and wishes.
Igor.
... It has never happened that everything has happened.

Thank you!!! Or maybe we won’t deceive Vindows for Speccy in all its clumsy
glory!!! There is no need for a swap unless necessary, the Speckie has additional
memory, and it is used normally by the ramdisk, compared to ViHdOuZ!
For Picasso, swap has existed for a long time.
From Pavel Fedin → To All 15 September 1997
Only this is a little slow. And what exactly is this approach? Why
is it impossible to pose the question differently: “WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO SWAP?
WHY IS THIS EVEN NECESSARY?” For some reason, lately everyone who is not too lazy from Speccy is trying to make a Speccy with his 95th crap. :-(

Do you use a RAM disk? But on 48K in iS DOS even all sorts of picassas and edits are swapped...
they are overlays they are loading, the temp file is being made... that is, for the operating system
the application programmer has done the job... and the memory is really a mess... modern data and formats of this data (the data that has to be

In Moscow, it’s not that they don’t like IS-DOS, they just don’t know it well.
Most often you can hear words like “great text
editor”, or “very beautiful shell” and people don’t realize that
the number of programs for it amounts to hundreds of :) disks.
I, for example, never miss the opportunity to sing
praise ode to Isdos, Scorpio, etc. progressive phenomena in
spectrumism (on sysopniks, obviously ;*))), therefore statements
like “isdos-Mazday” are strongly refuted there by quotes from
“Programmer’s Guide...”, etc. sources.
PF>ZX-NET would not give you anything except swearing.
Oh, well? There was a lot of sympathy, but no swearing at all! ;)
By the way, about hard drives: when I once mentioned them, one
character simply stunned me with the question “What kind of batteries are needed for them?” -=:-( )
At the next sysop session I brought my smuc with a screw, explained
what it is, how to use the clock, where to plug in the modem and where everything
is connected, and people liked it. :-)
Already therethose who want to install port #1FFD and a system
connector, so the screwing process has begun. Questions like "w
why?" are absurd, because a megabyte of capacity on a screw costs much less than on floppy disks. ;)
The Pentagon 512 is completely redone simply, change
a selection of the top pages and literally a few jumpers and
cut roads, so that the soldering iron would be intact, and the rest
will follow. :)))))))
By the way, an interesting detail: about 95% of all software with a screw work
WITHOUT any adaptation! :-)
With best wishes, Walerij.
