Intros

ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Eugeny Lubimov To All 30 October 1997

Greetings to you, O All!

In general, I read all the conversations on the topic of Subject and here’s what I think:
Why do you need an intro? It seems like it’s completely necessary, even if you downloaded the game from the Internet.
But on the other hand, why not write that you downloaded it? Moreover, now in most intros, even if there is decrunch, you can skip the intro together with decrunch (Doom by Digital Reality). You can, of course, write Disked by Cleopatra
but isn’t it better to watch a good intro and listen to cool music. I, for example,
often rip ints and write them off to a separate disk, but only in order to watch them, since I don’t own the game. Anyone who hasn’t written the ints will not understand this. There was a proposal here not to litter games with ints, but to make demos out of ints, but for dems, IMHO, these
effects are too “weak”, it will turn out to be a demo 1980, with the inscription press space to
continue. But what can I say, YES, the intros are made for self-satisfaction, to
declar
everyone that I DOWNLOADED, I CAN DO THIS! To say hello. Or will there be proposals to make games without instructions, and send greetings in letters? Then there is a
probability that the Spectrum will die! After all, there won’t be DR, Flash & etc. release new games just to write Infinite (Y/N)? But gamers themselves won’t go on the Internet to play games. So, the ints are NECESSARY, but within the limits of reason. And you can actually get out of the ints in 10 seconds.

PS. All this happenedmy IMHHO :)

With great respect, Eugeny!

... Starting from the opposite, you can end up with something very opposite.

No... These are different things. It’s one thing to collect something for a collection (when you take pictures from games, are you also a maniac? :), and another thing to deal with
defenseless (almost :) versions ;)
