It would be nice to update the assembler

From Michael Kondratyev To All 2 May 1997

Hello Vyacheslav!

Mon Apr 28 1997, Vyacheslav Mednonogov concocted a letter to Michael
Kondratyev:

VM> What will value affect? Just for clarity?

Haven't you heard that sometimes they return something to the payment?

With best wishes, Michael.

From Konstantin Afendikov To All 4 May 1997

Hello, Dmitry!

Thursday May 01 1997 09:57, Dmitry Grigoryev wrote to Konstantin Afendikov these
words:

DG> Tuesday 29 April 1997 00:44, Konstantin Afendikov wrote to Vyacheslav

KA>> is) writing commands _through_colon_. On one page, everything
KA>> is before your eyes, everything can be viewed perfectly, and Tasmov’s and other
KA>> pages would have been about 3-4 dozen.

DG> You probably wanted to say 3-4 pages?
Yes, that’s exactly what I meant. 4-5 operators per line, 88-110 per page -
4-5 pages tasma. Well, there's one extra zero Zh8)
DG> Well, you can't fit 30-40 operators in one line.
And if by them we mean the name of the macro? G8) Then I’ll fit it in! Ж8)
DG> In general, of course, it’s a nice opportunity, although flexibility is lost when
DG> modifying such a record, cutting/inserting pieces.
Have you tried splitting lines using ENTER? It helps a lot sometimes. Ж8)
Yes, and in 3.10 such a thing as Auto Wrap appeared. Now, in general, you can
type text by looking at the keyboard - the commands themselves are split/transferred, etc.
And you say it’s not convenient! Unusual - yes, but only for the first time. And
then you get so used to it that you no longer have the desire to write any other way.
DG> That is, this, of course, can be done, but it’s not so easy anymore and
DG> natural.
What do you consider natural? Pressing SS+W to insert a blank line? Or
CS+2 to insert a space? Just press ENTER or ANY KEY _no_easier_?

KA>> As for changing the syntax of commands.... Do not change, but need to be added.

DG> You cannot add more commands than are in the processor. The rest
DG> - macros, pseudo-commands...
I've become so incomprehensible. Then I meant _directives_, and not
the commands themselves. Sorry. G8(

KA>> Although it will be possible to get by with macros at least for the first time.
KA>> The most important thing is that interest in this topic does not drop, and then
KA>> we’ll come up with something. G8)

DG> Interest does not drop, but we need to keep an eye on it in time.
so, and I’m keeping an eye on it. Ж8)

KA>> The demo_ZASM_v3_10_ is planned to be released by April 31st_ - you'll see for yourself,
^^^^^^^^^^ Damn it! Well, no, it’s not April 31st! I gave it then! Ж8)
KA>> but... what was added:
KA>> - exa=ex af,af' (c) MASM 1 Ж8)
KA>> - all jr,ret, call with flags are written together, i.e.:

DG> But this is completely in vain :( So you can get to lda3000:ld(hle
DG> Readability falls...
Well, at least there should be some limits. It certainly won’t come to this (lda30000

KA>> Both the left and right parts are correct, but to me the right one
KA>> is already _more familiar to Z8)

DG> Pervert :)
Trying hard J8)

KA>> As for the rest, only directives have been added. There will be a demo - read it.

DG> And entering the file name when loading manually again?
Not again, but again! G8) Both manually and with the cursor. Everything is very convenient, everything is bundled (C)
I don’t remember who.
DG> Is it possible to load/assemble data into any page? And in
DG> additional memory of Pro, Scorp, etc. Can the editor be jailed? How about working with
DG> with several texts?
All of the above will be supported only in the next version, but for now
only RAM disk for 256/515/1024. Working with several texts in several
windows simultaneously on one screen was _almost_ completed, but was removed to the archive due to lack of memory.
DG> Is the disk directory cached?
but what! For 3-byte extensions there is simply no other way out.
DG> Have you increased the memory for text?
Is 30 kilobytes not enough? Ж8)
DG> Are most functions still implemented through the shell?
What about for example? How do you like the built-in disk for doctor, monitor, printer, game (well, there was nothing to do with J8))? Throw it away?

DG> This is what needs to be implemented first, and not change the syntax,
DG> which any hacker can change in his own software if he feels like it.
One request - don’t see it, don’t tell me, ok? Ж8)

DG> Sincerely, Dmitry (OLDMAN).

Sbest wishes, Konstantin.

From Dmitry Grigoryev To All 5 May 1997

KA> One request - I didn’t see it, don’t tell me, ok? G8)

When I see it, I’ll say more... Now I can already say the following:

Zasm is an assembler editor for beginners and amateurs. It has limited
capabilities, but a developed interface (windows, frames) and other service
functions (color, calculator), very convenient for those who have yet to
“break” the barrier of transition from BASIC to Assembly (several operators in one
line), indispensable for those who have not mastered the keyboard well (tired, you can play
Galaxian). Quite a powerful editor. The complete package takes up half a disk
(the remaining space should be enough for small procedures). Strongly
not recommended for professional coders.

KA> Best wishes, Konstantin.

Regards, Dmitry (OLDMAN).

From Konstantin Afendikov To All 10 May 1997

DG> Notice that I praised, albeit with a reservation ;) Did you need me to salivate
DG> with delight?
Just praise is enough. Ж8)

DG>>> Is this little thing switchable?

KA>> yes, everything there is switchable.

DG> And the lower case in which the commands look? ;)
Hello! Try writing the first letter of the command with a capital letter. Ж8)

KA>> Unlike some...

DG> Come on, come on ;) What are you talking about?
Guess. ALASM has at least some kind of setup, but where else?

DG>>> Then it doesn’t matter. In general, I'm not saying that this is bad, I
DG>>> am proving that it is _not_rulez_ :)

DG> Look, I've already said twice that several operators in a line are
DG> _not_ _bad_ ;)
Yes. It’s just bad that you didn’t understand how good it is (several
operators).

KA>> Mood, my friend, is a great thing.

DG> But you call your father “father”.
ok.
DG> And then my mood can be different too...
there were no emoticons... apparently it’s a serious case, I thought Stirlitz.

KA>> Have you tried writing in XAS? There's _so much_ natural... G8)

DG> There's a lot of unnatural stuff, but a lot of original stuff, another thing is that
DG> it wasn't finished...
Will there be (I'm dark) ???

KA>> Which one? SS+Q? One key?

DG>_One_press_ of two keys at the same time ;)
In some humorous echo, a couple of months ago there was a debate about who could
press more keys at the same time. Apparently you read it too. Ж8)

KA>> write in a column and erase using SS+ENTER.

DG> That’s exactly what I do. But why do I need Zasm? If it has more
DG> advantages, except for a relatively powerful editor (which, by the way,
DG> you inherited), there are no and are not planned?
^^^^^^^^^^ And no one is hiding this from anyone. Khokhlov left a good legacy to _everyone_. Many have the sources of ZASM 2.4 (2.5), but none of them have made 3.00 and higher.

KA>> The same _one_key_! Ж8)

DG> Listen, I haven’t started catching you in words yet. But you
DG> will soon begin to highlight my typos, I see...

DG>>> Naturally (for me, of course) an insertion from the buffer that does not destroy
DG>>> the appearance of the text.

KA>> Masm’s pros understand you, but I don’t... G8(

DG> I’ll explain. And Masm has nothing to do with it. You have several operators in line.
DG> Can I insert another statement into the middle of the line by copying or
DG> moving the last one from another place in the program?
DG> And a group of statements in several lines?
This requires vertical blocks. There are none yet.
DG> Autowrap will format everything along with the labels?
labels.he doesn't touch.
DG> But at the same time the procedure will _look_ different. Got it?
Got it. Answer: nothing prevents you from writing in a column - the result is the same as
everywhere.

[skip]
DG>>> inferior to existing ones
KA>> ^^^^^^^^^^ well, that’s in vain...
DG> Inferior, inferior... Alasmu, Tasmu 4 _functionally_ inferior?
ALASM - yes, TASM4 (due to the cache) - yes too. About 3.00 - the pure truth.

DG>>> and this event is given inadequate advertising...

KA>> Apart from ALASM, IMHO, there is no better one yet. And advertising has always been a good
KA>> thing.

DG> I didn’t say that your advertising is good. All these TEAM's act only on
DG> fragile youth F-)
Tim - a support group - was not started in order to gather people who write
in laughter and prove their superiority. First of all, it was implied:
- communication between author<>user
- proposals for changing and modernizing old procedures, etc.
DG> And your attempts to prove to me that Zasm is the best only amuse me ;)
Understand how many people there are, so many opinions. For me he is the best, for you he is not. Yes, and
it would be the same with me if you still proved the coolness of Masma. Ж8)
DG> But I remove the word “inadequate” - assembly language for beginners is quite adequate
DG> for creating teams. Don't be offended, I'm not being sarcastic.
II wasn’t offended (I generally very rarely get offended). G8) I even started to like
'assembly language for beginners'! G8) well, well...

KA>> Now even _you_ are doing it out of principle, just look and play. Ж8)

DG> Of course I’ll take a look. I have always looked very carefully at programs that contain the words “best”, “most powerful”, etc. in the help files for
DG>. addressed to himself and
DG> the words “poor”, “primitive” to his analogues...
I just crawled through the entire readme for 3.00 - I found only the “most powerful”. The rest was probably lost. Ж8(

DG> But this doesn’t mean at all that I will also use this business and persuade others
DG> ;)
and who knows you? Ж8)

DG> There is no Help, I don’t even know what’s new and _necessary_ appeared in the

Well, sorry! Soon I’ll start throwing in parts... Description of the compiler, I I threw it a long time ago. Since then, almost nothing has changed. I'm throwing it again.

read the description, maybe it will work?

Ж8) V. Rubtsov had nothing to do in his spare time. There is also a perpetual calendar, tag, and a sprite editor. By the way, maybe there will be support for 4-bit printing. Should I?
DG> But why then _ZASM_ (why not ZXDN? If I’m not mistaken, it was
DG> DN that inspired you to include all these numerous features? :)
He, my dear! G8) And ZASM is closer. And it’s not that monstrous.
If it grows, we’ll rename it. G8)
[skip nice words]

it needs a lot from it.

Have you seen the cursor, in addition to the usual blinking one? The arrow should be animated. Ж8)

DG>>> Zasm is an assembler editor for beginners, amateurs.

DG> Correct. Let him write 128-byte labels, links to them, transitions ;) A
DG> in general, an assembler editor forfor beginners - is that so bad?
Well, 8-13 byte names of procedures can be written. 128 is the maximum.
But what I _terribly_ dislike in all ASMAs is ETERNAL CAPS LOCK!
I love commands and labels made of small letters.

DG>>> Strongly not recommended for professional coders.

KA>> You hang it everywhere. Let people honor it. Ж8)

DG> I will publish this ;)
ON-LINE? What exactly? Your review? By the way, I really liked that you began to throw the text itself in a zip. Before this, all I did was download the emulator, ON-LINE, then click EXT everywhere, get all the texts from the image, and then read it.

KA>> So let’s let this matter go.

DG> I obey! I’ll just answer these 5 letters of yours, and then you can
DG> not write to me ;)
I can, but I don’t want to (not write). Ж8)

KA>> I’m expecting a letter from you with the following content:

KA>> Not in ZASM:

DG> This is the approach I like :)
And I basically only accept such approaches.

DG> :)
I can’t wait! Ж8)

DG> In Dos Navigator, look where the About and Game items are located. What do they
DG> do for you in the options? :) I barely found it today.
I know everything perfectly well. When there were no those three sticks (like them,by the way, what are they called?), About and Game were in the options. And then we simply forgot to move them.
If we had often played the game or admired the rebound, then maybe we wouldn’t have forgotten
. G8)

From Dmitry Grigoryev To All 13 May 1997

KA> And you Did you see the cursor, besides the usual blinking one? Animate the arrow b
KA>. G8)

Why? The text cursor can be made to wriggle like a snake or run around the perimeter :-) But if you write that this stupidity was made especially for me, then
don’t forget about the more necessary features ;)

KA> But what I _terribly_ dislike in all ASMAs is the ETERNAL CAPS
KA> LOCK! I love commands and labels in small letters.

So this can be allowed in your “monster”. Usually, assembler authors
try to minimize the editor itself, so that there is more space left in the 128th memory... How many pages can you use on the 128th computer? /p>
