Greetings /All/!

Who has a HDD controller circuit for Scorpio or Pentagon, please share, don't
let me die :~(. Plz!!!

Best wishes, Max.

I soldered the HDD controller using the circuit from Turbo2+ (6 microns). I encountered
some problems:
1. The screw can be read normally only in turbo mode (7 MHz)
2. Even in turbo mode, bytes are sometimes lost when reading from the HDD buffer
(the buffer is read by two INIR commands in a row, i.e. 512 bytes,
I checked it on two different screws: WD 42MB and Samsung 420MB - the results are
the same)
3. there is no support (yet) for the file system, for now I just read tracks, sectors...
4. There is not enough time to continue experiments ;(

Who can advise anything on the first and second points - how to
overcome?

To MOA: are there such problems on Scorpio and if so, how are they resolved in
HDD support? If it’s not a secret...

It was experimentally established (on the same Turbo 2+) that the HDD is very critical to
the signals of the recording and reading strobes. If their fronts are not steep enough, or there are any impulse noises, then the loss of words during reading (and during writing, by the way, too) is observed. The first point is due to the same thing (IMHO). It’s also worth checking
the stability of the supply voltage on the hard drive - there were also pitfalls there.

On the day of 20 Apr 97 Maxim Polyanskiy had the good fortune to write to Konstantin Winogradow:

KW>> Who can advise anything on the first and second points - how to
KW>> overcome it?

MP> Did you forget to slow down the processor with WAIT (21pin cable)?

The most interesting thing is that on the HDD part this signal is not issued.
