Insanity is a bootloader!!! I don't have a disk drive! Broke!
There is only a screw!!!! And a tape recorder :) I once had the opportunity to live for a month without a disk drive at all. Even when he was alive, I
used it extremely rarely - only to launch “masterpieces”
written by individuals who like to call completely sane people senile.
Imagine this situation: you launch a certain program from screw
C, and it tries to load itself from drive A...
Then your teeth begin to grind, and your hands reach for a huge It’s time, in a sacred impulse, to eradicate this disgusting thing! Turboloaders
- chop with huge axes! After all, this is idiocy - a turboloader for as many as two tracks! A dubious gain of half a second turns into
a bunch of glitches and incompatibilities! By the way, about the speed: subj works faster _only_ on fast disks, that is, with striping
=1, formatted in DCU, FUT and similar utilities. If you format the command format "diskname" then the speed turboloader_NOT
ADDS_, and usually such a disk kills! The loader in KINETIK is exactly like this, after each start the floppy disk must be reformatted.
On normal disks, I personally tried to copy 1000 sectors
through #3d13 and through the turbo, and trdos did it for four seconds
_FASTER_! What’s interesting is that half of the turboloaders are turbo in name only; they hardly work faster than trdos. I don’t know, but the fact
remains a fact, take the same Nicron. Compatibility is generally a problem. After all, not everyone has 5.03! There are also 5.01, 5.02, 5.04, 5.05,
5.06! Can you guarantee compatibility? After all, a living computer is not a sweaty emulsion; you cannot replace the firmware. And starting from 5.05 and partially
5.04 all the brakes were removed there! On disks with head skew and
cilinder skew, trdos itself works almost twice as fast as your
"turbo" bootloader! If the system works slowly, you need to change it, and not do its work yourself. When a more advanced version (5.06 IMHO) spreads, I wonder what people will think about turboloaders then?

Hello, dear All!
Today I tore the hard drive away from my scorpion. I wanted to
chop it into small pieces with a huge ax, but changed my mind.
What if it comes in handy?

even worse...
Why is all the software tailored to a buggy Pentagon with one disk drive, a dirty bus and crooked ports?
The list can be quite impressive, who knows, he will understand.
2SN: Got it?
Almost all the latest releases are loaded from a screw with glitches, and
this is all to blame a terrible plague called MSPACK!
This masterpiece by default places its unpacker at address
23296 (#5b00), and in this situation, at address #5b5c it turns out to be
#28 = %00101000, the third bit in one!
This has become my curse. you observe a dirty screen accompanied by music, or a complete discrepancysome kind of thing.
You press magic and oh damn! MSPACK again! At #5b5c again
#28! And again scr7! I command the shadow literally the following: mem
#5b5c
.0
scr5
exit
After that everything is fine.
People! I've been patient for a long time! If you use mspack, then give it the address of the unpacker 23297! In this situation, #04 will fall into #5b5c and there will be no glitches! And in general, keep an eye on #5b5c.

I, too, have already raised the question a thousand times about the specialization of the software for pEntagon 8-E~~~
I completely agree with you, there is a standard all over the world ZX Spectrum 128,
by the way by Clive Sinclair, and only in a single region everyone
focuses on the monstrous glitched, citing the fact that it is widespread.
But no one wants to admit that the purchased (assembled) child turned out to be a paralytic.

PS: Let's hope that Sprinter turns out to be normal wheelbarrow.

Sprinters, the history of the Pentagon will not repeat itself -
developers - Oh, we've got a hardware glitch here, so we recommend that you

I repeat, this is my IMHO, but I agree to listen to other opinions, maybe you

The more bells and whistles, the greater the incompatibility with the original. And to cut down
excess hardware with a compatibility switch with the “native” Spectrum... it’s easier to buy another
computer. Personally, I don’t need the bells and whistles, I need the NATIVE SPECTRUM, and not the fancy Horseradish Knows How It Works.
And the Sprinter won’t turn around here, it didn’t appear in modern times and its bells and whistles are not worth the money. It’s easier to buy something else.

Your IMHO is of course very interesting, but apparently you are not aware that the Pentagon, oddly enough, is closer to the original than any other computer. God be with him,
with the #FF ports, God be with her, with the bus (by the way, if you dug branded toys, then
more than once you probably noticed the interrupt tables written in them >> what is the thread
talking about?). So, what does it all come down to? To drawing one line in 224
tacts. Just like in the original. True, the Pentagon has more lines. 320 versus 312. For example, adjusting all multicolor/border themes comes down to changing the delay at the beginning of the raster, and that’s all. With all sorts of plague scorpions, everything will be so hemorrhagic...
In terms of hardware, IMHO most amateur developments are oriented specifically towards the Pentagon. It's easy to expand memory. Easy to hang the turbo. My Pentagon is absolutely lovely. Four screens. You can go through NMI to STS, which sits on a specific page with its own screen. And comparing STS with the shadow scorpion
is simply ridiculous. There is one more cool thing: from the total 48 mode (by
setting the appropriate bit in #7FFD), you can programmatically return to the extended mode.
With best wishes,John.

On a 128 branded machine, interrupt tables are an absolute rarity, the bus
is completely stable, and the main joke is that you can't place the interrupt table above 32768. If it is higher, the operation of games is accompanied by glitches on
the screen, without disrupting the program, this is the case with branded machines.

More cycles - easier to code. I suspect that +2 & +3 did not slow down access to
memory, and had a temporary Pentagon, or very similar.

So I can solder a video card to the scorpion svga, an accelerator on
ppc 603e, two mymics on the side and gravis ultrasound, cover the whole thing from above with a fan, and say: this is a scorpio. :)))
But seriously, the scorpion has much more reserves for development than the Pentagon. Here you have a free mounting field and a system
bus, and a lot of already existing peripherals that have nowhere to connect to the Pentagon - there is no connector.
The Scorpion has a full-fledged IDE interface, give me the specification,

By the way, do you have an alternative to this screw connection scheme?
Today it is the best, and it is also quite well supported by software
in all Spectrum operating systems. Moreover, it can simply
be glued to the Pentagon, or to anything in general, that's what
it was made for. Small capacity screws now cost pennies, so
the time of hard drives has already come for us too.
Or do you think the Spectrum should be fdd_only forever? After all, even
the screw is connected to the BC.

There are also those that disable the ROM and contain code from address #0000, but
there are only a few such programs, and as a rule they also overwrite trdos
variables and with The disk drive works through the VG, so the screw is on the drum. Most of the memory below #6000 is not touched at all
and is loaded through #3d13, so they could take careabout
safety #5b5c. By the way, this is still a system variable,
you can’t get away from it, and writing a random value into it,
to put it mildly, is incorrect.
Such an example: even the ancient lexicon works on a stump, and the old lady
art studio works with a screw on Scorpio, but between the XT and the stump there is much
less in common than between the then Spectrum 128 and Scorpio.
But Lexicon and art studio have a very important feature in common: both of these programs are written correctly and _professionally_, and are not strictly tied to hardware from 1986. ^^^^^^^^^

And install hard drives for yourself! 40M - 15 USD ; 240M - 30 USD
What's next? Now 21 people will suffer from the brakes.
IMHO, 5.06 with a turbocharger is not compare.
════════════════════════════════════ ═════════════════════════ ═════════════════
If 5.03 works slowly, then you need to install 5.06, and not do the work yourself.

Damn, the Pentagon is not just the only one, it has differences from the company
- a lot. It’s not the same at all... the Pentagon is a wait-free machine, and
the real spec was slowed down when working with memory, in addition, the memory

for some, this doesn’t suit me.
VK(> Besides, turboloaders often ruin floppy disks.

3`5 can be installed, and it will work. (if the drive is normal).
As for SS, you forgot about 40tracksSS disks.
This is insanity. There are even fewer people with non-standard drives than
people with hard drives. sorry,
I should have used normal DOS from the very beginning, then everything
was ok.

VK(> Suffer? To suffer? What a horror - wait half a second more.
sorry, you probably haven’t seen toys with numerous regular

net, these are not details at all. This is the same as if you called a Cossack a Mercedes, but what? both are cars with wheels.
similar misconceptions existed not so long ago (now there are almost none) with
XEROXs. Those. everything that copies is a copier, regardless of
the manufacturer. Nowadays (and even then to a greater extent) they like
to say IBM, although what this refers to is not IBM in any
case, because not assembled at IBM factories.
The same applies to the Spectrum. What we have is a Spectrum
compatible computer. Clone. The same clone as any
PC-compatible computer.

Meaning? If interruptions are disabled in the main loop, then until it is executed, the situation will reach the “suspended” music in the same way, at the second interruption, that is, the music and
effects slow down. If you don't disable it in the main loop... well, I don't even want
to imagine what will happen if an interruption comes when the stack is on
the screen... just like in Sprinter (if they haven't fixed it) ;) In general, the most
beautiful solution to this problem seems to me to be the following: at the beginning of the demo we measure
the speed of the machine and, if there are not enough clock cycles, we slightly moderate our appetites - turn off
the music call (- 2000-5000 bars!), a couple of special effects... etc.

Hey, what are you doing? Have you forgotten that I am a Scorpio? :))) RST #8 is very
easy to bite out of the program... And if you don’t “bite it”, then somewhere I
had a program that “sits” in the shadow and ignores this very thing RST #8
: DB #85... This is firstly, and secondly - on some versions of the monitor
some "RST #8" lead to freezing...
Do you even know what kind of "tricks" you can do with the shadow? We, for example, did it in such a way that the shadow font was mixed up all the time.
Imagine, you press the “A” key, and any
characters fly out, and each time it’s different...

always. The code generates graphics in a hidden screen, after finishing

yes. everything has names. As for modems, no one really calls them hacks anymore. As for the screw, it has caught on...
$Winchester$
Informal generic term for sealed-enclosure magnetic-disk drives
in which the read-write head planes over the disk surface on an
air cushion. There is a legend that the name arose because the
original 1973 engineering prototype for what later became the IBM
3340 featured two 30-megabyte volumes; 30--30 became `Winchester'
when somebody noticed the similarity to the common term for a
famous Winchester rifle (in the latter, the first 30 referred to
caliber and the second to the grain weight of the charge). Others
claim, however, that Winchester was simply the laboratory in
which the technology was developed.

Well then, try to hack the program that inserts a font-mixing block into the monitor... :)))
Protections, after all, they come in different forms... It’s possible, and not allowed to enter the shadow network, but
it’s possible not to be allowed to work normally with him. I once wrote a program that, when entering a shadowbox, clogs a bunch of bytes under the PC register. By the way, it's also a very good defense.
And in general, didn't I tell you that about two to a year and a half ago, we specialized in defenses? Both disk and “against hacking” (including
and against hacking with the help of a shadow server).
