Hello! Dear Andrew!
At 20:54, Sunday January 18, 1998 it was such a thing that
Andrew Savichev scribbled a letter All:
AS> I present to the eyes of the glorious knights of Spectrumland the draft Code
AS> of knightly honor! What suggestions, additions, etc. will there be? Collecting
AS> signatures, etc., if this is off-topic here, at
AS> mas...@satan.spb.su or in relcom.comp.speccy c SUBJ: Charter. 2Alex:
AS> please distribute and collect signatures on ZXNET.
The idea is interesting, but you were a little hasty with the collection of signatures - the law has not yet been established, we just need to discuss it.
AS> In the name of saving the great cause of Spectrum in Russia, given the
AS> difficulty of implementing
AS> in practice the implementation of Russian copyright laws, solemnly
AS> we swear:
;-)
In general, here I will react a little to some points. Those that suit me
I skip.
AS> 5. Everywhere and everywhere try to form a favorable attitude
AS> of society towards
AS> Spectrum, without “attacking” other platforms;
A rather difficult point - especially due to the dominance of pussies. Writers will
treat Specky like an outdated toy (at least those with whom I talked think so. They also tried to make fun -
make Warcraft onSpeccy. How I screwed them up by telling them about CV (then I showed them a demo).
AS> 8. Piracy on the Spectrum is illegal! No cooperation,
AS> no
AS> contacts, no software, even frivolous, for pirates and their
AS> accomplices!
AS> An unrepentant pirate should be expelled from the glorious family of
AS> spektrumists,
AS> included in all conceivable and inconceivable “black lists” by absolutely
AS> everyone!
AS> Accomplices of pirates, consumers of pirated products - to
AS> the shameful
AS> pillar!
This is actually the most controversial point. First of all, you still can’t kill all the pirates. Depriving them of software is also difficult, but depriving them of frivolous software is perhaps too much. Perhaps the following solution is possible - hackers and
pirates are also people, they have at least some conscience and reason, but they do exist.
The idea is simple - in each new program, make a small appeal to hackers -
do not distribute a broken version of the program (even among friends) in within
a month (or more) after the release of the program. After this, hackers are allowed to sell hacks. Of course, if a product is declared frivolous, it is advisable to suspend trade and distribute the program to everyone. But since
in the case of a very early announcement of a product as frivolous, hackers (and traders
too) will not be able to make moneytangible amount, then it is better to declare the product 'almost'
free - it is posted on the Internet (or on BBS), you can freely rewrite it,
but traders continue to trade. BUT - without any protection!!!
If this rule is not followed, this pirate should be subject to the full
severity of point 8 ;-) Less is not possible - more is possible.

I do not agree. It’s one thing to undertake not to open, for example, a CV, but quite another thing - some kind of oblique “release” of something that works with #7FFD
through one hole...

AS> 3. Release your new developments “to the wild” subject to the recoupment

IMHO, it’s even worth thinking about making some versions
frivolous.
