Ex,...Russian networks ;) (2Tim Yunaev - 2)
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Andrew Savichev → To All 15 February 1998
Hello, Tim!
Well, zx.spectrum broke through to me again and, as always, for the billionth time in Russia, “who is to blame and what to do?”, to which I already hesitated
to answer myself ;)
As they said about us, “Russians create unimaginable difficulties for themselves and
then heroically overcome them” ;)
>
> AS>>> Bidding users just drive with a "filthy broom" from
> AS>>> the civilized world of the Spectrum.
> TY>> How?
> EM> Come and destroy the Spectrum... :)))
Everything is much simpler ;)...well, of course, if someone values his honor, like I do.
A dishonest person, of course, can only be put on a chain or on a stake ;)
Well, what did they do with the honest ones in the old days? or where did “not caught - not a thief” come from?
Correctly, it is enough here to call a thief a thief, and not just for one person,
but where will he go, because a thief cannot steal just once;)
So is the “trading user”. If he wants to trade normally, then why doesn't he declare himself a trader, why doesn't he start normal relations with the authors and "not eat from silver on a table covered with a white tablecloth, and not from a trash can, kicking off annoying rats"?
The idea is clear?
>
>But it would be worth listening to the opinion of AS (serious) interesting. Or is there nothing to say?
All I do is constantlyI say, I say, I say, but I have
a lot of things to do both for the Spectrum (soul) and for money (microcontrollers).
Opinion about the SOS project?
I have expressed myself many times, though under different SUBJ.
In short, here it is.
1) I definitely support byte trading on networks! In relation to the Spectrum
this means enormous efficiency. In a small volume, you can transfer a bunch
of everything!
2) The contradiction between a non-commercial network and its commercial
use can be resolved by prepayment to the author and an essentially free
newsletter (the information is available to everyone). What's the point of paying then?
It's very simple: some people want something so bad that they can't stand it (they're impatient
that is ;)), others - "so-so", and still others don't give a damn at all
So let everyone think, if he really needs it, but doesn't want to pay
then will someone pay for it, to whom it's "like a goat button accordion"?
I would suggest dividing all such products into 5 categories:
(I apologize to those who have already seen all this in my other letter under another
SUBJ )
$ 99 - $ 199, any newspapers and released bourgeois toys, demos
$200 - $ 399, some newspapers, designer toys and magazines, system software
$400 - $ 599, the same (except for newspapers), better quality and higher. demand
$600 -$ 799, “super” - category for the non-greedy and kind (well-fed) ;)authors
$800 -$1000 the same, for “greedy” or “hungry” authors ;)
Please do not be offended by the authors :)
The networks are simply not able to purchase more expensive things, because... to collect such amounts of money, IMHO, is simply unrealistic with 500-700 people.
3) I suggested calling the specified products (toys, demos, graphics, music, system software, photos, directories, electronic press, etc.)
N-soft. This is what I mean by this.
This is not FREE, not SHARE and not COMMERCIALsoft.
In terms of level, quality and support, it must correspond to commercial
proprietary software! Otherwise, what’s the point in this whole idea, write to yourself
as you want and distribute as is as FREE software ;)
But it differs from it (commercial copyright) in that it was created specifically
for distribution on networks. Those. It is ILLEGAL to copy it onto media
sell, transfer, etc. It is also unacceptable to make any changes
to examine the code for the purpose of using it for commercial purposes.
If you like some idea or need an algorithm or want
to develop this software or something else - contact the author and get it from
first hand on his terms. This is the only morally and legally impeccable path! Spectrum software is a unique software, because unlike
other platforms itIt is physically impossible to make more than 5-6 thousand copies for use
(there is simply no one to use it :( ).
Therefore, the authors will treat your requests, I think, with understanding and loyalty.
It is very easy to identify N-software! It is enough to scatter 5-6
bits of a digital marker among the data. To do this, each author (or one of them on a common
order) will write a “sweet couple” ;), one of which scatters beats
and the other collects them. It’s better, of course, for everyone to write on their own and take care
in the same way as they take care of personal weapons or a company seal!
Now the most important thing: how should all this really work?
First of all, authors need a “social order”. Those. first he must somehow find out what the people need. Therefore, it is necessary to create a permanent column
like “I need a program”, “I want a toy”, etc.
Of course, the authors themselves have tastes and an understanding of what is not on the Spectrum and
what would be interesting to people. But the first will in no way be superfluous and will not
harm the work.
Then it is necessary that the authors observe the unwritten “laws of the stage”.
If you don’t know them, think something like this: “what would
Slava do in this case?” This is not a “cult of personality,” but read the interview with V. Mednonogov in the ON-LINE newspaper and you will understand what I’m talking about.
But I’ll still try to formulate them, and Slava and that’s allLet the rest
authors, who I deeply respect, correct me.
1) It’s not nice to be the first one to break into the door at any cost, that is
competition is competition, but you also have to remain human.
If you know that someone started working on a similar project before you,
then try to find out in general terms what kind of project it is and NEVER, under any circumstances
use this information to the detriment of the author.
2) If you want your copyrights to be respected, always respect
the rights of other authors.
3) Help others when you can, “you can’t comprehend the immensity”, think about
the common good and the good of Spectrum before your own, don’t be
one of those for whom “my house is on the edge”, and even more so one of those
who would only “snout” run into your own trough."
4) Do “throughout the power” what you promised to people, finish what you started
or give it to someone who will do it no worse than you, if you can’t do it yourself
.
5) Love what you do. Do for others as for yourself. Treat all Spectrumists with respect
: past, present and future.
6) Don’t confine yourself to the Spectrum, work for it, but look at the world of computers
more broadly, there is something to learn and adopt.
Ethics are ethics, but “let’s go back to our sheep.”
Finally, the author realized for himself thatit is required of him (as now, for example, demo makers have realized that March is just around the corner, and July is just around the corner and it’s time to
start writing demos for FunTop'98 :)) and began to work.
Tensely, sculpting in the sweat of his brow, he can look for support from the people and not
only moral, but also ideological (well, a person alone cannot do something
brilliant or at least a good one ;) ), and when the creation is almost ready,
take a break, make a demo out of it, give information to the press, etc.
In a word, it’s time to start “promotion”. That's all - the author
can't do anything more for his brainchild yet. Just bring what you started to completion.
Next, “your word, Comrade Mauser,” network traders come into play.
And who are they?
Unlike ordinary traders, this is potentially any of us!
After all, what is required of a network trader?
1) Support the “author’s promotion”
2) and most importantly, collect money from people and transfer it to the author.
Based on the combination of these two points, the authors of serious things of category 4-5
should seriously think about the candidacy of their network trader.
But any network trader must be authorized by the author and people should
find out about it, and a lesser-known author may want to do everything himself.
Yeah, that’s where the dog is buried, Sergei Novikov will say - and he will be absolutely
right!
Since the authors are scattered throughout the valleys and villagesno less than the users - so the problem of collecting and sending money arises
in full force.
Well, my dears, having made a fair amount of money for yourself, having enriched our mail
(10% of the transaction amount), you will all finally understand that there is simply no reasonable alternative to
SpectrumNetBank!!! Well, God be with him, know his time
has not yet come and any fruit must ripen before it falls.
We should wrap it up...
In short, after collecting the required amount of money and transferring it to the author, the author throws
the software into zx.spectrum, and from here it spreads across other networks.
It can be given to friends, but not in the market or at a retail outlet, because
one signal with soap to the author is enough, so that he would fall like snow on a merchant in his city (and in another he asked the one who wrote to him about it), buy from him a disk with his own software (and this is already material evidence) and then glorify it all over the world, or even start a legal proceeding, since a license agreement on its use will be thrown in here along with the software, where it will be directly stated that “It is prohibited
to be transferred to any media for the purpose of resale and commercial
benefit”
Uff...
I don’t know if you will consider my answer serious, but so far there is no due interest
on the part of the general public, I will prefer to bow out then.

I don’t understand the meaning of your tirade. Personally, I now have a lot of programs “on the
drum”. First of all - demos and some toys. Goodsystem
programs are far from perfect, but only if they are GOOD, and this can
be determined only when working with them.
And now, resolve my contradictions: “I agree to pay only for SOME
programs and ONLY AFTER I am personally convinced that they are for me are needed, but must
pay IN ADVANCE, and FOR ALL programs."

Okay, my next question is how and who will collect this money
(and quite a lot). What are the control mechanisms?
[.....]
AS> In terms of level, quality and support, it must correspond

So I’m talking about the same thing - what’s the point in this idea if everyone writes

No, it is unique for a completely different reason...

I just don’tI understand what does SOS have to do with it? What you described should have been an
ordinary market.

I'm afraid you are too carried away by the “great ideas of equality”... Creating
your own program that competes with the original one is ALREADY a detriment to the author (albeit
indirect).

Oh, don’t say those words “support the author”. They give me heartburn.
AS> 2) and most importantly, collect money from people and give it to the author.
What do you think, I will agree to send at least one
ruble to the same Novikov ?????!!!!! And I thought we had overcome the MMM trends a long time ago.

Good luck! Evgeny.
