ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Evgeny Onishko To All 4 December 1997

Hello All.

....in the "Creators" column of the laser disk-collection of programs for ZX-Sp?
This especially applies to true Spectrum connoisseurs living in St. Petersburg and Moscow ;-)
But collections from residents of other cities are also accepted, if delivered to
us ;-)
How sad...
Such a great idea, I'm full of enthusiasm and strength, but here they are for - “I would buy...”
But to do, or at least help to do, is no, everyone will be waiting for freebies!
It’s not so difficult to call me, and then we’ll agree...
And I wonder how long all of you, lovers of freebies (if not in the sense of money, then in the sense
of your contribution to the common cause), will wait for this collection if everyone waits just as
as you yourself ready-made?
Probably then no one will make the disc, because for more or less reputable
disc recording companies it is extremely unprofitable (how many spectrometers are there in the city? Not
that many, and releasing discs with a small circulation is not very profitable, I
seems to me), and individually it is quite difficult. Such things need to be done
together, whoever can do what.

Me (for now) that) he said everything!

Everyone here is friendly towards your idea. But you, IMHO, are “digging in the wrong place.” Firstly, judging by the first letter, you are well acquainted with Evgeniy
Yuryevich (Welcome) - here are the first 3000 programs for you. Today, large collections in St. Petersburg are kept only by Logros and the guys from the Avtovsky market (Pasha, place 10; viKS, place nearby...), perhaps in the Scorpio f. There is nowhere else to look in St. Petersburg. I have 250 discs - the collection of the closed LMV-Studio (the discs
will be used to record CVs), but it’s hard to drag discs into a turbojet engine, and even worse - to split them into separate programs.

Now look at the problem from a different angle: let the compressed Spekov
program take up an average of 20k - then no more will be recorded on one CD3000
programs, and you already have them (E.Yu.)

[ However, isn’t this an excuse that you and E.Yu. are you going to add to
f.Welcome collection :-? I recognize the handwriting of the great master :) Sorry if
is wrong... ]

Warm greetings, Slava!

That's for sure! I dragged 285 disks of toys, not counting fifty disks
magazines, two dozen system disks and another fifty more!
And I dragged it this way: I formatted the floppy disks on the PC with zxformat, then
on the Pentagon I copied them from the original, then again on the PC tpdshku!
It’s good that I had two disk drives on the Pentagon! But one of them, at the end of the copying, ordered to live long. :( Couldn’t withstand the load. I wish I had been copying all fall!

I didn’t have enough strength for that. :(

IMHO none of the large sellers give their collection for nothing for such a thing will not give, but will ask for sooooo much, because... Such a disc does not promise much profit from sales.

The main thing is to set a goal! And we, like tumbleweeds, born in the fresh wind, are moving towards the goal... No, this is too banal... To hell with it! shaken

?????????????????????????????? - why?
Everything is much simpler: you look for _any_ 286 machine (I haven’t met a single one
that would refuse to read ZX disks) or 386 (on some models worked
only makefdi from the UKV v1.2 package), take makefdi and everything is OK. Thus, before the death of the screw, I had ~100 images lying around. It took about two days
(though on 5 or 6 machines ;-) So that’s it, as they say (C) someone’s.

And on On quad and stub boards, the controllers were so overclocked and simplified
that they could only read DCU-formatted disks, and even then not all of them.

By the way, has anyone worked on connecting VICOMM or XTR to IBM?

Sincerely, Lebedev Ilya

Yeah...
I also forgot to write that _each_ of more than 400 disks I checked for performance! Like this. And you say “weak...” :)

Well, try to read at least one fast format disk!
IL> ...you take makefdi and everything is OK.
Inconvenient, however ^^^ this is the format. You just can’t pull out one toy, and there are more utilities written for
*.trd.

Here, here. And I have over 400 images on one machine, and then in the evening, after
work. And I also checked each image for functionality. And I also duplicated
on the second screw, so that it wouldn’t work out like you did :) And how good it is that I duplicated!
Because one of the screws also covered.
IL> So that's how it is, as they say (C) someone's.
That's it!

What did you want to convert it to? Not a standard (or maybe some other non
standard) disk from FDI to tpd? That won’t work. Only a double-sided, 80-track flop.

With all kinds of regards and wishes.

Of course I didn’t convert the regular flop, but I don’t want to convert the regular ones either :(
I have v1.01 from 11/3/96.
