THE ELITE LIVES IN A DIFFERENT VIEW.
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Alex Petrovskii → To All 28 December 1997
Hallo, All.
Maybe not entirely on topic, although this excerpt ERGO! The whole idea of Parkan was taken from the Elite!!! Even the design of the ship's instrument panel repeats the Elite. How did the Ikito people make their game, you say. But it turned out that they, being under the impression of the Elite, repeated it. All these first-person views, simple With respect, Alexey Evgenievich Petrovsky. December 22, 1994. With respect Shor Kan.
from my letter in GAME.EXE seems to be directly related to Specy.
Yes, don’t hit for H in WORD and all the letters won’t lift up
hands.

So, PARKA.... Is it probably already stuck in your teeth? There will be no laudatory responses this time. There will be a comparison and bringing to light of various old and not very old things. Somehow the IKIT people said something, and you published that they started making Parkan under the impression of one toy on the ZX Spectrum, it was
the lost planet RAKHSLU, from where the path to other dimensions opens.
The search for RAKHSLA is also carried out by a secret league of ELITE class pilots under the name
The Dark Wheel>, in general, the branded ELITE was accompanied by a whole
fantastic story with a good plot, explaining the beginning of the game.
From the beginning you have the ship Cobra MK3, 100 credits and eight galaxies at your
feet. You can trade, develop asteroids, shoot pirates, piracy yourself, exterminate the enemies of the human race, the Targons, a race of intelligent insects that went into space. Complete
freedom of action! There are also special missions to save people and get various things, you can accept them or not. Freedom! You can customize your ship with various necessary devices and a wide variety of weapons. There are so many types of lasers, missiles, plasma bombs and various protective devices. Various star systems have a level of development from 1 to 14
levels. The beauty of the ELITE is complete freedom of choice! You are your own boss and subordinate, you are not limited by anything except that 10 pirates will fall on your neck near the 1st level system.
If the Ikitovo people had lived longer on the Spectrum, they would have known about the new
so-called Kladovskaya or Ovosibirsk version of the Elite. Kladov managed to squeeze so much more into the Elite with the same amount of working memory of 48 kb, enough for one full-fledged game! Added a melee locator, very convenient! Made it possible
interstellar flight in a simple jump mode, although it takes about 3 light years, about one hour of real time! You put something heavy on the key and sit down to watch TV. What to do if you haven’t calculated the fuel (and somewhere, no matter how much you fly, everything is in vain)! Added special tasks, added
new types of ships that will drink your blood, you can now buy
Cobra MK4 instead of your old MK3, added a new laser weapon, nowYou can
use small automatic
warships after capturing an enemy computer (they remind me of something). In the galaxies there is a war between
people and Targons. There is an opportunity to get hired for military service and by completing tasks, earn new ranks and bring the bright moment of victory closer! Combat missions are quite different from simple cargo delivery to landing troops to capture the Targon station under VERY Dense fire. After complete victory, you are a
honored Colonel and go for demobilization. Why is it taking me so long to describe an old toy? Maybe you haven’t seen it, maybe you’ve forgotten it. This is a short reminder about the
ELITE. She deserves it, because this is love for life!!!
And now to answer the question, all this is painfully reminiscent of (PARK)
someone also boasted of complete freedom and a non-linear plot?
economy look like an organic continuation of everything that happened.
The simplified piloting, or rather the docking, is upsetting. Without good
piloting in the Elite, you simply won’t get to the station. When you transfer the gameGod himself ordered to add and boost it to another more powerful platform! The main thing is not to lose the spirit of the game, its atmosphere, this whole grandiose world! The Ikito people did exactly that. Put anyone who played and loved Spectrum Elite
in Parkan (the PC version of Elite doesn’t stand next to Spectrum’s, it’s so mediocrely made, although everything seems to be the same), ask his opinion and he’ll tell you a sophisticated
Elite.
oh Elite, not Parkan! After all, if you transfer chess from a simple wooden board to a monitor screen, replace rough figures with the most beautiful 3D models, and replace the drunkard neighbor with an accurate calculation of the program, will you get anything other than chess? The Ikito people took Elite as a basis and repeated it so well
that it didn’t disappear, didn’t get lost in all these bells and whistles, but only won!
The Ikito people got what they wanted, a wonderful, incredibly interesting game with
ANOTHER STORY. It’s not in vain that they say, be careful in your wishes, they may come true!!! If they had done it worse, no one would have recognized the Elite, but alas, she peeks out from everything....
You are unlikely to publish my thoughts about Parkan, promotion is underway, and some
there dares to write something against. And this would be a gross marketing mistake.
or maybe later, when passions have subsided and it will be possible to stroke the Parkan against the fur. For one and moral pointsearn money they say we were not afraid of Parkan himself. That's how fair we are.
P.S. A copy of the letter may be sent to IKITA. I also
reserve the right to use any part of this letter in any form in
any other publication or other media.

It offends me that they pull ideas from the Spectrum and are silent about it.

Hi, Dmitry!
Here is the answer of one of the Nikitovites (if, of course, you are interested in this). This is their
commercial director and partly publisher, the authors are on vacation.
I am bringing it after the break.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
I think that Alexey is right in many ways, since he is not the only one who compares
Parkan with the Spectrum Elite.
Only one small correction: neither Oleg Kostin nor NikitaSkripkin,
who invented and modeled the world of Parkan, never owned or played
at Spectrum, nor did other Nikita employees. And we didn’t have any consultants from these circles. I'm ashamed to say, I can't even imagine what
Spectrum looks like. But Nikita and Oleg played the series Wing Commander,
Privateer, Star Control, Quake. Therefore, if anything was borrowed for the purpose of improvement, it was from the latest mentioned games for PC. Were we able to improve -
this is for our customers.
I think that a man from Novosibirsk named Kladov is very talented
if he managed to single-handedly create a game that Parkan recalled many years
later. Because the best authors of “Nikita” spent three and a half years creating
Parkan and still did not manage to implement half of what they wanted.
Negative feedback is normal. We've already received several of these,
and they scold them for good reason.
Another question is that we were a little delayed in advertising with positive
reviews, we really wanted to brag about the result. From this month advertising
will change...
That's probably all.
With respect, Evgeniy Lomko.

I especially like the last phrase (about advertising) pleased ;)) Bin general, Alex,
"by chance" they did it, you can't prove it ;)

For some reason, it's tempting to get into overdrive. There's even control (in flight) like in Elite.
Are they really afraid that someone will punish them for borrowing an idea? 8-[ ]
However, this does not detract from the merits of the game at all.
Warm greetings, Slava!

So Elite is also on PC, don’t forget. They say that they haven’t seen the Spectrum, but
they don’t say anything, like, about the piss version.
PS: In general, all this is not important. In Warcraft-1 on PC, even the menus are similar
to Dune-2 ;) However, Virgin did not mind |)

Vyacheslav is that you?
...why did you tell Dmitry Grigoryev about THE ELITE LIVES IN A DIFFERENT SPECIFICATION. ?

well, they saw the elite on the spot, and they are the same, even in
management... What about management - in everything... the only thing is a little
graphics added and polygons flooded.
Good Luck...
... Windows isn't CrippleWare - it's "Functionally Challenged".

Maybe... It's a pity that, having such hype and technical
capabilities, domestic gamemakers are simply making another Elite... Immediately
after the digger ;) We're doing even better at Specky ;) By the way, doesn't Total Control
remind you of anything you know?

And what about!!! They will remember!!! They say the cat cried!!! And the engine is
braking.
I also received this from the editor-in-chief of EXE.
They are driving the Nikitovites!!! There was an interview in EXE, I can’t tell you exactly what number, I gave him the magazine to read, but at the very beginning it says that there is such a game ELITE on the computer
ZXSpectrum. And I liked her or something like that.
The words of the Nikitovites!!! But maybe they will refuse the interview? They say they got it wrong?
