These echoes spread through ZXNet channels and only among their
subscribers. Connect :)

return to this page доминировать, куирнфкры будут популярны,
направление и т.д. Hебезынтересно бунать, что
кое-что действительно существилось,therefore it makes sense
to continue the work started. However, let's not rush into making forecasts just yet. First of all, I will make one small remark: I am writing
this text in the hope that there will be people who, just like
me, will be interested in discussing the topics proposed above or just
talking about demo building.
Over the last week, quite a lot of software has arrived in Grodno,
among which I found three demos. To be honest, watching them didn’t give me any special impressions, not to mention any
feelings ;) It’s a bummer, of course, three works, and nothing
original or memorable, just mediocrity. All
this makes me think, why suffer so much if in the end
you end up with just another stamp. If you analyze any of the mentioned works in terms of, for example, coding, then you cannot say that this is outright sucks, there are, of course, things that are not very fresh, but everything else is more or less at the level. The music also seems
ok. Well, if you put everything together, then everything turns out to be quite ordinary, and not particularly attractive. So what is the criterion of success in this case? Of course, first of all, coding,
music, design and, partly, the idea. Some people will ask, what does the idea, the demo have to do with it - it is a demonstration of how cool you can code\write music\draw. Well, what about the rest? They will say that in general demo building does not make any sense, so there is no point in doing it. In my opinion, talking about the lack of meaning is at least stupid; If they do it, then it makes sense.
I believe that everyone who decided to write a demo did not want to just
show their capabilities, but with their help to attract the attention of
the public to something much more exciting. Well, if
you only think about how to show yourself off more beautifully, then it can come to
theft, and as you know, stolen things will cause at best
an ironic smile, and at worst...
However, not everyone, of course, wants to amaze people with their coolness,
there are people who want to do something really interesting.
Among such a contingent, the majority do not know how to sufficient
knowledge and experience. It is much
easier for a professional coder; he is able to write a good effect, make a high-quality demo, without even paying special attention to design, originality, and especially the idea. It cannot be said that such works are not popular, although they do not evoke much admiration. In order
not to be unfounded, I can give an example, try to compare
the work of RST7 and Imp'a. I in no way want to attack the works of
RST7, moreover, to claim that Imp's demos are better than RST7 or
on the contrary is simply stupid. I just want to turnYour attention to the
technical implementation of the work. RST7 writes effects that are already in bare form, i.e. without music and appropriate design
processing it looks cool. Imp'a's effects, in terms of their level of sophistication, cannot compete with the standard ones.
It turns out that it's not just the effects.
The problem of all novice demo makers is that too much of what has been developed over the years of demo building on the Speccy is automatically perceived as something
absolute. Demomakers, as if by inertia, consider certain things to be standard. This is how you have to do it, and that’s all, because “that’s how it’s customary” - for example, start a demo with “Presents”, and end
with “The End”. I don't think the audience won't guess where the beginning is and
where the end is. It's all about these "unwritten" standards.
Once upon a time, back in Trashe, we wrote - Demoing shall make you
free. Some people knew this, probably even before us. Freedom -
I do what I want, the main thing is that no one suffers from it.
Imp wanted to write FUCK OFF in capital letters
(Vibrations), so he wrote it. But I want to draw a big
end on the whole screen (Condommed). Who knows, maybe someone will like it ;) Well, the main thing is thisattracts the viewer's attention and brings variety! The lack of
originality gives rise to monotony.
In my opinion, the meaning of demo-building is to give people joy as much as possible. Everyone does it differently. Some people like hard-to-understand works, some, on the contrary, love pop music, and there are people who are attracted to something unusual, unlike anything else. The more new and original ideas
we incorporate into our work, the more people will
enjoy our creations and it is not necessary that these ideas
concern only with coding. Imp'a's demos prove this in the best possible way.
These are the thoughts that visited me on 03/08/98, and so I hastened
to write them down. If you disagree with me on something, then don't be lazy, write. Well, now Bye!
