the joint holding of DemoParty BYTEFALL'97 and BC-mania'97. All
additional information can be found in the new versions

This year, DemoParty ByteFall and BC-mania are held jointly
for 3 days (August 15, 16, 17) with a focus on three
platforms: IBM, AMiGA, BC.

> 1. The opening of the DemoParty will take place on August 15 at 18:30 in the premises
of the Institute of Transport Construction.

On this day you will find:
- demonstration of 4K-Intro BK0010 (competition works)
- demonstration of MegaDemo BK0011 (competition works)
- demonstration of MegaDemo AMiGA (out of competition, the best for 12 years)
- demonstration of MegaDemo IBM (out of competition, best for 6 years)

2. Second and third days (August 16/17, Saturday/Sunday).
Venue to be confirmed. In any case, having visited the Party
on Friday, August 15, you will, of course, find out where to go on
Saturday.
ENTRANCE FEE.
These days, competitive works on
AMiGA and IBM PC are presented to your attention, as well as the best works on BC.
A night disco (more precisely, a dance floor) is planned.

General provisions.

To visit BYTEFALL'97 you must purchase entrance
tickets. If you send an application for an invitation ticket, then
its cost will be 2 times cheaper than a ticket purchased at the
box office, and the invitation card also gives you the right to take
with youone more person. Tickets purchased during
the competition are valid for one person. The price
of invitation cards is symbolic. You can send requests for tickets
by e-mail (see paragraph "Contact information"). For an example of filling out an application form for an invitation
ticket, see the APPENDIX. The number of invitation tickets
is limited, so send your applications in advance.
Participants in the competition will receive invitation tickets
free of charge.

2. How to take part in BYTEFALL 97.
In order to to participate in BYTEFALL 97, you must send
your application for participation to the email addresses specified in
the "Contact Information" section. The application form, as well as an example
of its completion are given in the APPENDIX.
You can either bring your work in person or send it to
our FTP server via the Internet.

3. General rules for BYTEFALL'97.

4. Information about ongoing competitions.

List of competitions held at BYTEFALL'97:

I) DEMO compo (demo video competition):

1. 128 byte intro (IBM);
2. 512 byte intro (IBM);
3. 4kb intro (IBM, AMiGA);
4. 64kb intro (IBM, AMiGA);
5. 4096Kb Mega demo (IBM, AMiGA).
no more than 10 works are exhibited for each competition.

II) GRAPHICS compo (computer graphics: AMiGA, IBM):

1. Hand drawn (hand drawn, 20 works);
2. Rendered (3D graphics, 20 works);
3. Animation (animation, 10 works).

III) MUSIC compo (musical compositions: AMiGA, IBM):

1. 4 channel (4-channel compositions, 10 works);
2. Multichannel (multi-channel compositions, 20 works);
3. MIDI-music (10 works).

4.1. Demo competition (Demo compo), conditions.

Maximum demonstration time -
128b, 512b - 1 minute,
4Kb - 3 minutes.
It is advisable to exit to DOS by pressing ESC.
Music is prohibited.

You can record the music for which you will play on an audio cassette
a demonstration is being carried out.

64k Intro compo
───────────────
AMiGA1200-68030/50
or
VGA and SVGA VESA v2.0 modes. Resolution no higher than 640x480.
Pure animation is prohibited.
Maximum demonstration time is 5 minutes.
Exit to DOS by pressing ESC is required.
Music is allowed.
The ability to start without sound
is required.

4Mb Demo compo
──────────────
AMiGA1200-68030/50
or
VGA and SVGA VESA v2.0 modes. Resolution no higher than 640x480.
Prohibitedpure animation.
Maximum demonstration time - 10 minutes.
Exit to DOS by pressing ESC is required. Music is allowed.
The ability to run without sound
accompaniment is required.

Maximum of 1 work from a participant/group for each competition.
It is prohibited to exhibit a musical composition from the works of the demo competition
in a music competition.

Resolution restrictions are imposed by the feature
of the projection device.

4.2. Music competition (Music compo), conditions.

4-Channel music compo, Multi-Chanel music compo

Acceptable formats - .IT, .XM, .S3M, .MOD.
Maximum number of channels - 32
(in 4-channel compo - 4 channels, which is obvious=).
Maximum size - 1MB.
Maximum listening time - 3 minutes.

Compositions (music modules) will be played,
according to the wishes of the author on:
Impulse Tracker
Sсream Tracker
Fast Tracker
Cubic Player
AMiGA
Players of the latest versions will be used.
Only one composition will be accepted from each participant!

!Note: participationcompositions recorded in non-standard
or less common formats is possible. The main
requirements are compliance with the above specifications and
the presence of a correctly working player (included with
the module).

MIDI compo.
───────────
File format - .MID
Maximum size (with patches) - 1 Mb.
Maximum listening time - 3 minutes

Songs will be played (according to the wishes of the author)
on the following sound cards:

1. Gravis Ultrasound Plug&Play (1Mb);
2. Turtle Beach Maui (1Mb);
3. Sound Blaster AWE 32 (1Mb).

Memory capacity (RAM) sound cards are deliberately limited.
Only one composition will be accepted from each participant!

The music competition will be held in several stages:
1. Submission of works by August 10. (!)
2. Preliminary audition by an authoritative commission.
3. Official performance on August 16.

The experience of holding such events has shown that the largest
number of works is presented in the competition of musical
compositions, therefore, due to the time limit
of the competition, we are forced to holdpreliminary
selection of participants (as is done at Assembly, etc.).
Auditions and selection will be carried out by a specially created
commission, assembled from reputable musicians working in
different styles. Subjective evaluations of works are excluded.

The total number of compositions participating in the music
competition:
1) 4-channel - 10
2) Multichannel - 20
3) MIDI - 10

However, if there are few works, the selection will not
be carried out!
Also, if there is time left, the compositions that did not get into the
competition will be lost out of the competition (by at the request of the author).

4.3. Graphics compo competition, conditions.

!Note: Pictures borrowed from anywhere will be
disqualified. Only
one entry will be accepted from each participant! Viewing of works will be carried out using
SEA and QVP programs. The exhibited works should not have
information about the author (this applies to works that will be shown
on a large screen). To determine
the authenticity of the composition, it is advisable to bring along with the work
the intermediate stages of its creation.

Animation compo
───────────────
Maximum resolution - 640x480
Maximum number of colors - 16.7 million
Maximum demonstration time - 10 minutes

Works are accepted in S/VHS format, recorded on video
tape. You can bring your works on any other
storage media (Arvid, HardDisk, etc.), excluding
magnetic disks. there is no need to send works over the network, because
the information transfer speed is quite low.

BK0010 & BK0011
───────────────
1. 4K-Intro
* 7 works are selected for demonstration on a large screen screen.
- maximum size of the executable file - 4096bytes;
- music is prohibited;
- maximum demonstration time - 3 minutes;
- only main (16K) and screen
(16K) memory is allowed to be used;
- access to ROM is prohibited;
- access to disk is prohibited;
- the program must be run on both BC0010 and BC11;
- when running on BC11, the palette can be changed and synchronization by timer;
= no more than two works from one author (group);
= check on BK0010-3MHz, demonstration on BK0011m-4MHz.

2. MegaDemo
* 5 works are selected for demonstration on the big screen.
- maximum size - 1 disc (800K), recommended - 128K;
- music required (COVOX or AY);
- maximum demonstration time - 5 minutes;
- access to ROM is prohibited;
- Demo is not required to be able to run on BK0010;
= no more than one work from one author (group);
= testing and demonstration on BK0011m-4MHz.

3. COVOX Music
* 10 works are selected for listening in hall.
- SPC+INS format or executable file;
- listening time - 3 minutes (it is not recommended to loop the composition);
- maximum size of the executable file or module
(SPC+INS) - 48K;
-the executable file must work on both BK0010 and
BK0011;
= no more than two works from one composer;
= test on BK0010-3MHz, demonstration on BK0011m-4MHz
(SPCplay1.2).

5. Prizes.

All winners and participants of BYTEFALL'97 will be awarded
with prizes and gifts. For more detailed information, see
subsequent versions of this document.

More precisely, it’s most likely everything that was abovewritten regarding PC
since the organization failed on the PC side and therefore for now the first day of the party will definitely
