Author's software for the whole country

ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Vyacheslav Mednonogov To All 10 July 1997

Get Msg, Vladimir!

29 Jun 97 10:38, Vladimir Larkov reported to Vyacheslav Mednonogov about {Author's
software for the whole country}:

VM>> Contacting Nemo (whose details were also in ZXFormat NN) is not
VM>> recommended (IMHO), because he disappeared somewhere (2All: where did he disappear?)

VL> He didn’t disappear anywhere. A couple of days ago I talked to him on the phone.

Indeed. At the request of Nemo (as another St. Petersburg distributor),
I am writing about him:
Nemo is currently distributing software and hardware by mail
(the address, as mentioned, is listed in ZXFormat). He sends out mostly his own hardware (the well-known KAI 256, its components), Cemstone mice complete with a board. The distributed software is either copyrighted (from St. Petersburg authors) or from the catalog of the same Logros. All this is mainly retail, but, apparently, work
with wholesale is not excluded.
In addition, Nemo is actively trying to enter computer publications ("Your
computer", magazines on electronics and amateur radio) with the aim of opening
Spectrum sections.
Work continues on the new KAY (TRANSFORMER project). By the way, for this
reason he is skeptical about the idea of F. Peters (literally: “they have a poor idea
of the real situation, what the cost consists of, how to
sell all this”; “onyou won't see anything on a high-resolution screen if there are no
programs") This is his personal point of view, caused, IMHO, by the fear of the outflow
of funds from the "iron" Spectrum market towards the Peters :)

also: if you have any questions for Nemo (about distribution, hardware or his
new ideas :), then you can contact him via 5030/221.23 (Sergey Izotin)

one more thing: by the way, Sergey himself is a representative of the Logros f. who recently joined Fido
(Seryoga, ah! :)))

With warm greetings, Slava!

hello, Vyacheslav Mednonogov! I remember that on 10 Jul 97 you took it and launched
in All with this:

VM> ("Your Computer", magazines on electronics and amateur radio) with the goal of
VM> opening Spectrum sections.

Fan! Everyone will laugh at him! :-(((Although, in principle, I
welcome this.

bye, with all my best wishes, Pavel Fedin.

PF> Fan! Everyone will laugh at him! :-(((Although, in principle, I
PF> welcome this.

Laughter with laughter, and today Nemo brought up “Rush Hour” (#99, 8.7.97), where on the third
page his article with the catchy title: “Down with the IBM platform!”
Further introduction: “The computer revolution has made a lot of noise. The monthly
escalation of capacity is simply intoxicating - how long ago was the 386th processor considered the highest chic and who needs it now? However, this intoxication is not a case that can be said in vinum veritas. It's time to talk about the hangover. Russia has turned into a slave market for dealers of one platform - IBM"
What follows is a slightly modified version of the article "Technology is war!"
(which Larkov recently posted here) - and the article is not small 8-[ ]
The subheadings are no worse than the article itself:
“Everything ingenious is simple”
“What is good about the Spectrum”
“Drugs from IBM”
“We will destroy the whole world of violence”

And this, as Nemo says, is only the beginning 8-[ ]

And what! Nemtsov transferred all the officials from foreign cars to
domestic ones! "Volga" - look, the government will issue a decree on the general transition from
IBM to Russian Spectrum clones :))

With warm greetings,Слава!

It’s really too early to write off the Spectrum! Hemo is 80 percent right!!!

With respect, Alex from FFC COMPUTERS.

He gave it to me too. Upon careful reading, there are two clearly omitted points missing. The first, an analysis of the relationship between the required software and its cost,
and the second, arising from the first, the economic justification for the development of this software.
And so, a very good, correct article. With a strong influence on the
"burdock-everyman".

I’m interested in your opinion on this topic. Let’s say it’s necessary to quickly
write a dozen different programs, which in C++, let's say, is done in one
day. Time is money, both in program time and in terms of costs.
These programs must process tens of megs information. It seems to me that it would be _cheaper_ and _faster_ to buy a PC with many megahertz and hire a C++ programmer, rather than look at all the efforts and assurances. Spectrums.

What I mean is that ZX-Spectrum and PC are not next to each other, these are completely different weight categories. What can be done on Fox-e in a minute on Asm Z80. do days
or weeks, and time is money.

Spectrum is more nostalgia than a serious thing. to asm for z80, and on 8086
it was hard to switch at first. But comparing z80 already with 80188-20 is childish
stupid (sorry).

I have an eksa for eight months disappeared. Now this has become something terrible. Or have I reached the peak of the flame?

So, Good Bye.

Megohertz, this is of course good, but the directness of the hands is also not in last place!
If you wish, you can write a fast program for the specky, and a slow one for the PC! :-)))
Of course, for things like rendering and counting, megahertz are needed, but not for work in
FIDO, for example.
