Author's software for the whole country
ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»
From Vladimir Spashko → To All 17 June 1997
Hello, Vyacheslav!
I would like to insert my word into the conversation between Vladimir Bogdanovitch and
Vyacheslav Mednonogov, which took place on June 16, 97
VM>> we need to go a different way. I went twice, but, you know, somehow it wasn’t successful
VM>> Maybe I’ll be lucky the third time :-?
VB> Protection for the author’s program is necessary, but not sufficient.
VB> We need to raise the issue of the SIMULTANEOUS sale of the author’s program throughout
VB> Russia.
It's a good idea, I fully support it.
VB> In my city, without harming myself, I can distribute ~50 "Black
VB> Ravens",
And in Rostov I am ready to bring this option to life. Who from other cities is ready to join? Moreover, this may apply not only to “Black Crow” but also to the example of “Spectrofona N22” (since, as I heard, Inforcom has problems),
etc. author's software.
It would be possible to organize an all-CIS premiere of new programs with
preliminary advertising in the Spectrum media indicating the
day of the start of sales and places of official distribution.
Best wishes! Vladimir Spashko 17 June 97 18:23 hours.
From Sergei Novikov → To All 19 June 1997
Nikodim tried to do something similar (with the Prince), but it didn’t even
pay off for him (imho)
Hasta la vista, Vladimir! See you in Eden!

I wonder what media we are talking about speech???
It would be nice to make such a list, with addresses and telephone numbers, the number
of copies produced (if there is information)
For starters:
ZX Review
Spectrofon
ZX Format
ON_line
ZX_news
.....
Continue, please!
Serge !

VB> Voronov", even given the current situation with Speccy (maybe, of course
VB> a ridiculous number, but what if throughout the country?), as long as the selling price
VB> was not too high (we didn’t sell floppy disks for more than 15 thousand rubles,
VB> mostly for 5-7 thousand rubles.
There is also a difficulty in terms of payment. Taking money right away - setting up the trader (you) - what if they hack before it pays off? Sending 10-15 pieces for commission is more hassle. Still, it’s better to contact intermediaries, because in this case you can order a little of everything (and what from the author? One game/program
:)) Consistency of actions will not allow anyone to go bankrupt.
/skip/
And yet, the best way of protection is honest traders and decent sysops.
Then no hacker will be afraid (good dreams, right? :)
VB> We haven’t had anything new practically since the new year.
Hackers have strangled Spectrum :))
Warm greetings, Glory!
From Sergei Novikov → To All 20 June 1997
Greetings, Vyacheslav! Glad to see you again!
Answering yld Friday, the 20 of June 1997:
VM> So, who wouldn’t agree with you. IMHO, but it’s not the authors
VM> who should be doing this, but the intermediaries (such as Logros, Scorpion in St. Petersburg; IFK, Magic Soft -
VM> in Moscow).
IFK, as they wrote, is winding down on ZX, and the magicians, they say, have long
folded ;(
Hasta la vista, Vyacheslav! See you in Eden!
From Dmitry Grigoryev → To All 21 June 1997
VM> Hackers strangled Spectrum :))
Spectrum was strangled by gamemakers who made releasing games on two discs the norm (not
everyone can keep up ;) and gamemakers who released demo versions as
coursework and abandoned further work :))
VM> With warm regards hello,
VM> Slava!
Sincerely, Dmitry (OLDMAN).
From Vladimir Spashko → To All 21 June 1997
Hello, Serge!
19 Jun 97 Serge Zonov --> Vladimir Spashko :
SZ> Interesting, what kind of mass media are we talking about???
SZ> It would be nice to make such a list, with addresses and telephone numbers, the number
SZ> of issued copies (if any information)
SZ> To begin with:
SZ> ZX Review
SZ> Spectrofon
SZ> ZX Format
SZ> ON_line
SZ> ZX_news
SZ> .....
SZ> Continue, please!
This is the media of the all-Russian (even all-CIS scale),
and then in a tree-like structure there are means of local significance (for example, one
tongue and two ears in geometric progression ;-)), and through these channels information
distributes faster and more efficiently (considering that the above magazines
do not come out so often, and newspapers are not very read in the regions due to their
“network” orientation).
But if, for example, I want to convey some news to users,
then in 2-3 weeks 99% of avid spektrumists and 50% of ordinary users of the city
will be about it know. These are the “mass media” I was talking about.
IMHO, when distributing Subja, the emphasis is on individual work with
regional distributors, and not on a generalized “user”.
.........................
2:5090/31.7 -Krasnoyarsk
2:5061/33.6 -Rostovon Don
.........................
Who else?
To :All Those interested in distributing Subj in Rostov-on-Don, please come in.
Best wishes! Vladimir Spashko 21 June 97 19:28 hour.

A good (at least fresh) thought flashed from M. Iwamoto regarding the
distribution of Mortal. Like, if the game doesn't pay off, we won't release anything else
Maybe this makes sense? Imagine that a cool program/game is released, and it
promises an equally cool sequel. But with a warning: if at least one hack appears, there will be no continuation. And, by the way, it will be immediately clear who is to blame :)
Warm greetings, Slava!

They probably didn’t believe it!!! Of course, this did not happen without the participation of hackers (more precisely, some of the hackers), but users also played their role. :-(((With
conscious users, no matter how much a hacker breaks them, branded versions
will still be on sale!!!
Sincerely, Alex from FFC COMPUTERS.

By the way, how are things going with MK in St. Petersburg? I mean, is there a hack? At least in the form of amateurism.
The answer can be soap, so as not to hurt the sensitive souls of Codebusters. ;)
With all kinds of regards and wishes.

DG> Wow! That's what I'm looking at... And they're distributing it freely now?
I don't have any news about them. Although someone said that the Progressists were waiting for the release of the sixth Format. Competition. :) It seems like there were rumors that the second issue of Progress was already ready. I don’t know the details.
DG> Maybe he’s in the news?
Not from me. I have the distribution version on a floppy disk. Doesn't work on the emulator.
Can't be copied, can't be removed with a TV disc. And I myself don’t understand these issues.
And I don’t want to completely substitute the authors either...

Well, yes - E.Yu.Buder - in fact, the head of the Welcome f. - the organizer of the Welcome
Press issue #1. The editorial board also included D. Parinov. For some reason, WP#2 was not released, and the old editorial staff separated from the Welcome f. and formed their own group
ProfSoUse and released Spectrum Progress #1. For this reason, there is a noticeable similarity between WP#1 and SP#1
.
This is the connection...
