Asm

ZXNet echo conference «zx.spectrum»

From Alexander Shherbakov To All 25 March 1998

■ Khayushki, dear, All!

Recommend the subject for ZX. Better with a debugger. +where to get it.
I came across ALASM or whatever it was called... I was shocked.
It is extremely inconvenient to work with text.
By the way, maybe there are tools that allow you to type a program on a PC, then
also compile it on a PC and finally debug it in the Speck emulator. Or compile in Speck, but this is worse.

For this, allow me to bow out, with sincere respect to you.

Hello, Alexander!

25 March 98 Alexander Shherbakov was beating his fingers in the hope that Everyone would read about
Asm, I read it and decided to answer:

AS> Recommend a subject for ZX. Better with a debugger. +where
AS> to get it.
imho XAS is the best, but I don’t know where to get it.

Sincerely, Andrey.

I’m not a coder, but in my opinion most people work on ALASM and XAS and I don’t
understand why you didn’t like it.

AS> It’s extremely inconvenient to work with text.

And you have help for ALASM is there? :) In my opinion, it has almost everything you
need - searching for a line, replacing, copying, cutting, pasting a text block,
Russian/English, inserting code.

There is such a thing, but it is more suitable for virtuals.

$$$ With best wishes ... Alex

I’m throwing it into the echo for the second time, is it really true that not everyone has it yet?

In my opinion, the best one today is ZX-TASM by Konstantin

From Pavel Fedin To All 26 March 1998

You can write a program on a PC in a regular text editor, copy it
to Speccy, and directly load it into either ZX-Tasm or Tasm 2.0 by direct download,
and above - using Import tasm2.0. But Tasm does not understand Russian
letters, and also requires byte #1A at the end of the text, without which it will terribly glitch
or hang.
There is a second option: write the program on a PC and assemble it there using a cross-assembler, and then drag it onto the ZX. Unfortunately
I can’t tell you the names of the crosses - I wasn’t interested.

Bye, with a pack of viciouses, Pavel Fedin.

From Andy Harchenko To All 26 March 1998

I wasn’t shocked, but I didn’t recognize it either.

AG> I’m not a coder, but in my opinion most people work on ALASM and
^^^^^^^^^^ Don’t be offended, but since you’re not a coder, it’s hard for you to
judge what’s more convenient when creating programs. I've tried 4 asma in my life:
GENS (two versions), TASM (3 versions), MASM (2 versions), XAS (4 versions), I tried and
STORM, but this large character is just killing me.
And as you can see, I'm sitting in XAS. There are many reasons and small reasons for this :)
Despite the fact that STORM is faster and the text editor of XAS is not the best.

AG> XASе
^^^^ Still, the majority of it is than in ALASM.

AG> and I don’t understand why you didn’t like it.

There are an infinite number of them. It’s better to have them all, and then figure it out.
AS> Better with a debugger.
They all have a debugger...
AS> +where to get it.
They opened a faq server here (and that’s good), ask there.

So you haven’t tried ZX ASM? IMHO, the most convenient assembler. A very successful
multi-window interface, so you don’t even need to read the doc to
understand it.

Many people. Strangely unusual editing. I repeat, I didn’t work for a Speckie, I once worked on a Corvette, but editing was quite acceptable there.
There was even ESC and 5 function keys, not including a quite decent right
keyboard.

What kind of Asm is this? Throw it in, we'll see.

Sincerely, Konstantin.

From Roman Petrov To All 30 March 1998

Nu-nu, are you talking about that version, the demo of which they threw here? Without a screw, and even on a real Specky, IMHO, it’s a little hard to work with. All these overlays that are constantly loaded from the disk are very tiring. In addition,
there are options that assembler doesn’t need at all - Mouzon player, Minesweeper
(by the way, it’s not PRO at all, they could have been more modest). But version
3.0 of the same ZASM - I really liked it, I’m still using it, although
slowly but surely (for large work with a large number of files) I’m crawling
to Asm80 (by Slava Mednonogov, modified by Vova Hex). For those who are in the tank, I’ll explain - this assembler is on PC (exactly what people were recently asking about).

With respect, Roman aka Megus of BrainWave association.

Maybe 3.0, although you can ask Vova Rubtsov about something newer.

Hasta la vista.

Gee. There are also intermediate versions with which some Donetsk people are spoiled :) These are the rules! I don’t have one myself, since I don’t need it.
The encoder is at hand :) How would you like 3.0, by the way, but with more memory
for text, a file selection menu, etc.? By the way, I have doubts that it will still be a complete ZASM, in the sense as shown in the demo. Kostya Speck left :(,
and Volodya is calving :(

From Eugene Safronov To All 2 April 1998

I can’t upload the latest version - the author is not me, but
ZX-Tasm(Zasm) v3.0 without any problems. But it’s probably better not in an echo, but with soap. If
you're interested, write me, I'll send you a message right away.

Well, packed, Konstantin, packed!
