Having sat down at the keyboard, I decided to draw a letter for you All.
By the way, it’s not time for spektrumists to climb onto subj’inch flops, imho it’s long
time. After all, subj disks are easier to get and they are now cheaper than 5.25. Not to mention the convenience. And the flop, after all, is cheaper (compared to the new 5.25). Otherwise, a problem with disks can seriously
worse the situation of the Spectrum.

Wrong way.
5'25" disks have always been and will be cheaper ~20-50k apiece,
a 5'25" teac drive is 1.5 times cheaper than a 3'5" flop,
you can generally forget about the practicality of disks - 5'25" disks are the most practical
disks in world! No matter how much they rot (to a reasonable extent), sit on them, freeze, float in the heat - everything will withstand. Drop small disks once - a lot of bad things.
So you can't write off 5'25" drives and disks!

Here is the situation.
The flop must be able to switch - DC/RY.
Not all modern flops have such a switch.
Right now they will tell me that there is no need for a ready signal, so here it is:
Everyone knows how the controller is built. Everyone knows that when there is no disk,
the controller must emulate several revolutions at the index input so that the VGshka
“releases” the flop.
HO! if there is no disk in 5305, then in the selected form its index leg has a
stable "0" - what can you do.
I tied my index with the 34 leg of flops through LL1, if the drive is not ready - on
index "1" and everything works (hey, manufacturers! Think about this...).
That's why I focus on the RY (Ready) signal. I have a couple of 3-inch
ALPS here, Panas - they have such a switch. The new Mitsumiki also has one, but with a soldering iron. Some old Sonya doesn’t have it :(((
ALPS I tried to put it on the spec - everything smelled great...

I agree with this, but what about the fact that 5.25 have been discontinued for a long time, in our market
a box of GMD's costs 35 rubles, and 3.5 for 25-30 you can get decent discs,
besides there is a large selection, and 5.25 imho we have only one person selling them. I don’t know,

good 3`5 disks cost 2 times more than regular 5`25. They are good in

start distributing programs on 3.5 and naturally agitate people.
