Hello! Dear Vsevolod!
At 22:29, Sunday December 14 1997 there was such a thing that
Vsevolod Potapov dashed off a letter All:
>> it’s cooler to believe the creators, but the fact is that there is
>> software for this machine - a big plus for Sam.
VP> ;)) and you right of course! hehehe. as they say, where did we start....
Now I’m thinking about this question: shouldn’t I buy a Sam Coupe?
My answer is unequivocal - yes, but here are the problems: money (149 or 199 bucks)
and the actual acquisition process itself.
By the way, I’m not the only one from Brain Wave who is thinking about acquisition of Sam. Another
second coder wants.
VP> the graphic capabilities are amazing. Lira 3 is very good.
Ahh!! Woohoo!! Has it completely gone away for you? I completed the first part,
the second loaded (and the counter went not to zero, but to 14), a
picture appeared (with the inscription Lyra 3 vertically on the left and in blue tones) and
everything - nothing. The screen blinked a couple of times and horizontal stripes appeared (together with the border).
VP> And there is also an easier way to obtain the image - we use Anadisk in
VP> dump mode without ID information. or even simpler - type fd1: when
VP> selecting a disk - then the emulsion will read directly from the disk.
I will definitely try.
With respect, Roman aka Megus of Brain Wave corp.

report how it turned out. does the recording work? and what programs to throw packs onto the disk. and how to load files from disk. and so on. maybe we can put together a FAQ?

and I came up with my own method (this is the third ;-)
we make a disk with a diskdup.
we write a program that _sector by sector_ (via BIOS) reads the disk
and writes it to a file.
we format disk 2 for example (FFORMAT on 800k t80 N10)
with a second program we write back to the disk 2.
after that all utilities start working normally ;-)
IMHO there is a problem with the inter-sector distance
(the BIOS normally reads all sectors one at a time, but when trying to read
10 sectors with one command it swears)

VP>?
how can I unpack this .PAK if the subject freezes when writing (although in the dock
it seems that this is not unwritten)
why do the files recorded by samtoms swear when loaded in the emulator
(something like end of file?)
Good luck
Sergey.

VP>> throw the packs onto the disk. and how to load files from disk. and so on.
VP>> maybe we can put together a FAQ?
Well, we can. I'm now slowly remaking samtoms so that it writes to virtual disks. He already knows how to create new ones ;-) But one glitch
killed me to death - in samtoms the structure (file descriptor in the directory)
is 256 bytes long. Watcom stubbornly proves to me that it is 260 bytes, although
I didn’t change anything in the structure itself - as it was in the source, it remains so.
SE> how to unpack this .PAK if the subject hangs when writing (although in the dock

Yes, this is the biggest drawback of the emulator - it does not write in any virtual,
nor on real disks. It’s very disappointing.
SE> why do files recorded by samtoms swear when loaded in the emulator
SE> (something like end of file?)
Who the hell knows, maybe this is how it should be?
2All: Has anyone ever pulled out Lyra 3? For whom did it work properly?
For me, only the first part worked - and the second hangs.
2Vsevolod: The author of the emulator seems to have an email. Contact us - ask to continue working, or if it’s already working, when will the next version be available. I would really like to know more about this machine. There is a lot of software on the Internet, but
it’s impossible to distribute it.

That’s the whole joke: I use the unsigned short type, which
judging by the documentation is a number from 0 to 65535 (2 bytes), I even
look at the length of this type (sizeof) - 2 bytes, but when, purely for testing
I replace short with char, the length is shortened by 2 bytes! Well, what's the problem here?
VP> track recording doesn't work.
Yeah, that's right, only after your letter I noticed this phrase in the doc.

I tried it - similar glitches (when reading it reaches 14, a picture appears
and everything freezes. If you press F6 and then immediately exit, sometimes you can see
a dotted ball).

In the Watcom options you need to look for a way to align the structure. I'm sure you have
worth a byte.
