From Vladimir Kacev To All 23 February 1998

Good afternoon (morning, evening, night), All!

This is not a typo, this is the name of the new music editor for SoundDrive.
This is still a demo version, but there is already a fully working one.
True, we still need your wishes and critical comments so that the full
version is as complete as possible. :)
Editor written by STEVE from Coders'Academy. TAGANROG.
We are waiting for your reviews! :)

Bye, Vladimir :)

... Hey, if you're in Taganrog, come in!...

Writing a special editor for SD is not profitable - if you sit a little, you can
make it for COVOX - now this will be in greater demand!
SD, COVOX, and then you look at GS...
you need a samples converter - of course there already are... but you need a native one that
would read directly from MSDOS (or, which is of course worse, make an envelope DMM-samples).
Compiler - required + player (preferably with source code!). That's all for now.
PS.Next time .txt make it hobetoy!

From Ivan Mak To All 13 March 1998

I checked the work on Sprinter-e, with Sound-Drive built into the PLM.
And wishes immediately appeared.
1. It is very necessary to adjust the clock frequency of the processor. In turbo the sound is
much better, but the height of the instruments is not the same.
2. I would like to see the cursor moving along the arrows, and not just along QAOP.
3. Is it possible to set the notes on a stave?
4. In my opinion, there is a strong oversaturation of the screen with information. For
better understanding, it would be nice to make icons with pictures. (For example, calling the
disk menu is a square with a drawn floppy disk.)
Some of the icons may simply float out from behind the edge of the screen when the cursor
moves to this edge.
5. Is it possible to use Sprinter's extended memory for tools?
( Opening page #C000 via OUT (#E2), A. The list of provided pages
is obtained from the function called via #3D13 )
6. On Sprinter-e it is possible to set high-frequency interrupts. 22KHz,
for example.

Here is the answer from our musician LEO:

IM> 1) Setting up the processor clock frequency is very necessary.
There is no point in testing the setting. Now, if only I could get a more complete description of the structure of
Sprinter. How to set interrupts with a higher
frequency ???
IM> 2) I would like to see the cursor moving along the arrows.
Uchtems.
IM> 3) Is it possible to set the notes on the stave?
It is not possible. This is a tracker and not some kind of Wham.
IM> 4) In my opinion, there is a strong oversaturation of the screen

IM> with pictures.
All this can be done and, perhaps, is necessary, but at 128 kb there is no reason
to make an interface with icons, otherwise there will be
not enough memory for samples (and there is not much of it anyway). That's why the disk menu is so small.
If only we had Sprinter, we'd make a cool editor ;-)
In general, it's interesting to know how many Sprinters have been released? We would love to buy a couple of cars, but it all comes down to money. With a stepukha of 150 (increased) rub. It’s hard to
count on anything.

if you do it with DMA, then no adjustments are needed. By the way, on
sprinter the speed of the processor is linear?

and even better - under the KM interface.

gig, on the Spectrum there are only 256 dots per line - drawing something
informative so that everyone understands is quite difficult, if not
impossible. You just need to think through the menu pages
wisely enough.

Good Luck...

Sometimes it’s better, instead of a line of eight characters long, to have a square picture
size 16x16 pixels. In terms of area, it takes up less space on the screen and you can draw a fairly informative object in it. Also highlight it with color. And
it’s easier to target such a square with the cursor than a line.

that’s what’s bad. for software output of sound or something else
real time - the percentage should work linearly, and not in jumps. in this case, there is nothing to do without DMS.

depending on what kind of cursor you use. if with a mouse, then a pussy-series with a mouse - it
will really be difficult...

and the icons - well, it’s impossible to do so that everyone understands...

Good Luck...

It seems to me that the screen with icons can be loaded directly from the disk. After all, he stands almost all the time and does not change. This way it won’t take up space in memory, and there may be more space on the screen for other information. Pictograms take up less space than inscriptions.
VK> In general, it is interesting to know how many Sprinters were released

There aren't many Sprinters yet. 11 boards were released. Almost all of them are in people's hands. Constantly tested, broken, repaired, modernized.

The steppe has been crushed today. :( When I was studying, we had an increased salary of 90 rubles. This is
even before 91.
You can come up with something. A machine can be allocated for writing software
free of charge. Specifically, I am interested in writing a music editor for the Sprinter music
card. (8 voices, 8 bits/voice, separate volume controlin
channels for each voice, 256-byte wave tables for each voice,
setting the voice frequency in 3 bytes.)
If interested, I will send a complete description of card programming.

There is a timer for this. Set up interruptions at 22KHz and play.

This is highly dependent on the driver.

Make half-screen helpers for them, loadable. :)
In general, it is, of course, up to the author of the program which interface to choose.

Icons in trackers are not they'll ride. What can be represented by an icon
besides the disk menu ????

The card, of course, is cool! But the interesting thing is this: how much time does she
eat up from the guy???
In short, we are ready to make software, but we need a car.

P.S. Throw soap at Sprinter ;-)

Of course it’s interesting, let’s better put this miracle in the echo. In principle, I already almost
understood how it should be programmed, but I wonder how the loading and selection of forms for channels was done?
VK> The card, of course, is cool! But the interesting thing is this: how much time does it

A card of this type of time does not consume much more than AY, the time increases
only due to additional channels.
