Organizing the ZX Spectrum Party Di:Halt:99 in Dzerzhinsk

From Organism^#F0FF (Dzerzhinsk, Russia) To Unbeliever^Speed Co. (Samara, Russia) 11 June 1999

ORGANISM / #F0FF, on behalf of the organizing committee (FACEOFF ASSOCIATION, POWER PROJECT, MASTER HOME COMPUTERS GROUP) from Dzerzhinsk, informs Unbeliever about the preparations for the pure ZX Spectrum party Di:Halt:99. He highlights the secured venue, ready competition rules, an upcoming invitation demo, affordable ticket prices, and a convenient location. Seeking support from Samara sceners, he notes that groups PROXIMA and ETERNITY INDUSTRY from Kovrov have already committed to attending.
Hello, Unbeliever and all samarian people! Representatives of Speccy groups from the city of Dzerzhinsk are writing to you, specifically me, ORGANISM / #F0FF. We read BORNDEAD #8, where you write about various parties. We completely agree that at multiplatform parties, the interests of Speccy will inevitably be infringed upon, but we disagree that there is currently no counterpart to FunTop, i.e., a party solely for Speccy. Right now we, namely FACEOFF ASSOCIATION, POWER PROJECT, and MASTER HOME COMPUTERS GROUP, are preparing a purely Speccy party here in Dzerzhinsk, DI:HALT:99, in the planning of which we intend to take into account all the mistakes of FT and other parties held previously. We have all the necessary technical equipment, an agreement on the venue, all the rules are ready, and the invitation demo is being completed. At our party, competitions will be held _only_ for Speccy and only for Speccy, no PC/AMIGA and similar suxx. The entrance ticket price will under no circumstances exceed 50 rubles. The geographical location of Dzerzhinsk is more convenient for the majority of snickerists than St. Petersburg. Dzerzhinsk is located in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, in the central part of Russia. At the moment, we are almost completely ready to host the party, but the question "Does the people of Speccy galaxy need _their own_, purely Speccy party?" remained open. As the responses to our inquiry letters have shown, people, to put it mildly, are not eager to go to CC99, and people do need a purely Speccy party. Many hesitate, fearing they will be the only ones to show up. To our letters about the party, we have not received a single negative reply (so far ;-); everyone supports the idea. Unfortunately, information about our project is very poorly represented in the media. For now, information about Di:Halt:99 can be found in the periodicals ZXPILOT 33, Heresy#1, BUZZ#?. Tomorrow, (12.6.99) we will begin sending letters via InterNet, and then, imho, there will be no shortage of feedback. We really hope for support from Samara and are ready to send you the party rules and, if we manage to finish it in time, the invitation demo. So far, a firm promise to attend has come from the Kovrov groups PROXIMA and ETERNITY INDUSTRY. Other people I wrote to are still hesitating, supporting our party, but not giving promises to come until they get information about other groups that have agreed to participate. I really hope for your support and a prompt reply to this letter. With respect, ORGANISM / #F0FF on behalf of the entire DI:HALT:99 organizing committee P.S. Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto Speccy a purely Speccy party! Zilog inside — everything else outside! P.P.S. Sorry for the clumsy style of the letter, I'm just sick and tired of churning out these letters. ;-) bovv@kis.ru subj: DI:HALT:99 606026 Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Dzerzhinsk, Gaidar St., 62a, apt. 7, Novikov Alexey aka ORGANISM / #F0FF (8313) 25-79-00 Alexey
