Feedback on OBERON#4, Newspaper Loss, and PRO GRAF Demo
MAXWELL (M.B. Mineev) from Ulyanovsk thanks Max from Samara for a joint photograph, the OBERON#4 magazine, and the RGB#1 disk, noting a miscaptioned photo of LOVELY instead of MR.JOHN. He sends available issues of his ZX Spectrum electronic newspaper, describing disk failures that wiped out issues 10–12 and the ALASM-based shell. He also encloses programs from the WANTED! list along with the PRO GRAF demo, proposes visiting Samara between January 5 and 9, and inquires about FunTop98
Greetings to you, lost Max! ;)
Why lost? Well, you promised to call Sanyok, but you didn't... And now look at that! Accept my condolences regarding the 800 thousand rubles... :((( Well, so I came home from work today, and there's a rather interesting envelope lying on the mirror... "Samara..." is written in the return address. I thought and thought about who it came from, but couldn't figure it out. I don't remember your last name, and I didn't even imagine you could write (you refused my address in Saint Petersburg yourself). I opened the envelope, took off the wrapping, and out fell a photo of us against that cool street (by the way, thanks for the photo)! Well, I thought, finally! And, naturally, first thing I read the paper (or rather, what was written on it by hand), and second - checked out the disks. Thank you for OBERON#4 - a great magazine, you just can't abandon it under any circumstances! After all, there are already 4 issues, and your group is quite large and productive. And... lots of other reasons! In short, we really look forward to OBN#5! Only one thing: in the party zone photo, it's not MR.JOHN depicted, but LOVELY/GladiatorsSoft. You made a slight mistake. But no hard feelings (well, we will be... give us a retraction!) :))) As for the rest of the photos: let's trade what you have and what I have. In the next letter, I will send you a few either as .jpg files, or physically, if my friend's scanner isn't fixed. Well, moving on. Started browsing disk RGB#1... YEEAAAHHH! That's AMIGA! Cool! On the Spectrum! We don't have an Amiga here, but Viktor sent us a tape with demo recordings. And there are plenty of different pictures there... We want more! :)
Why am I asking for too much here?! :)
Now about our newspaper: I'm sending you all issues that I currently have (except those you already have). The last surviving issue is the 9th. The thing is, I had three more issues ready (10, 11, 12), but they disappeared without a trace when I started making the 13th... I restored them, thankfully the sources remained intact, but three days later they disappeared along with the disk... And the guy I managed to copy them to somehow broke the floppy. That's what you get for working on 13th issues! Now I also need to restore the shell from scratch, since the ALASM format file is no longer readable (Disk error Sec... Trk...). Well, anyway, let's not dwell on sad things... As for the picture in issue 8, it was drawn entirely in ART STUDIO. And when I redo issue 9 - it will look even cooler in my opinion!
I am sending you several items from the WANTED! list that I was able to find in my dusty disk warehouses, as well as a few pieces of our own software (check out the PRO GRAF demo. In my opinion, it's a worthy piece of work. If you have any suggestions, write to me. Also, drop a few words of support for the project, otherwise this guy won't finish it unless he is encouraged and pushed!)
By the way, what about visiting, as we agreed? I can come visit you during the New Year and Christmas holidays (somewhere between January 5th and 9th). At work, we get time off until the 11th. We could talk about various things, drink some beer (just not outside... I almost froze outside today waiting for the bus! And tomorrow they promised -38 degrees!!! 8I We'll freeze to death! :)
Well, alright, wrapping up for this time! Greetings to all Samara Spectrum users! See you soon?!
P.S.... ugh! wrong font...
P.S. What's the word on FunTop98? We picked up some rumors here, but nothing specific.
HAPPY UPCOMING NEW YEAR!!!
