New modem - A new modem for the Spectrum is being developed here in Moscow at 9,600 baud/sec.

I won’t tell you much about this, because... unknown yet what
it will all end, but for now this is how things stand:
A new modem for the Spectrum is being developed here in Moscow.  Sco-
The speed of the modem, according to the creator, will be no less than 9,600 baud/sec.
It will cost about TWO TIMES CHEAPER than the current modem. 

In the magazine ZX-FORMAT #3, an article was published in which
some person cursed our current modems (although they have nothing
no better!), and suggested installing iBM’s modems on SPECCY
2,400, and only because you can call IBMs with it -
Chinese BBS's, although you can't get anything from them other than text files
will download.  In addition, this modem costs the same as ours - $20.  But
our new modem costs much less and has much higher speed
transmission growth!  Then, these same persons very much doubted that
that how is this possible on the Spectrum with disk drives when the fire is running?
a large amount of information to make a full-fledged BBS!  (BY THE WAY, BEFORE
THEY HAVE JUST REACHED RUMORS THAT SUDDENLY (!) THEY STARTED OPENING IN MOSCOW
BBS'KI!) So, the amount of information is not so huge, and
Two or three disk drives are enough for normal operation.  Well
for whom this is not enough, let them buy a 'screw', andbe content! But there is
problem: there is no C-DOS for 'screw', but I think when this one
the screw will appear in Moscow, everything will be adapted for it.  And compatible
the bridge with iBM's BBS's is not so important - they themselves have a mustache,
let them adapt to us, and the SPECTRUM SHOULD REMAIN-
BE YOURSELF. 
The new modem has already been assembled, and the only thing I can tell you is that
it's just that you need collateral for it. (which seems to be
is already being written).
So, if there is anything new, I will definitely write.
