ZX Power

ZX-Power was founded in 1996, during the peak of the Russian-speaking ZX Spectrum scene. It was a time of rapid growth in software development, demo production, and computer magazines. Although Kharkiv had several active teams and independent developers, there was no true scene magazine representing the local community. This inspired the creation of ZX-Power.

The project was founded by Squizer and V.M.G., but from the very beginning it was a collaborative effort involving many members of the Kharkiv scene, including Cobra, ZMan, S.System, Dismaster, Evil Genius, Vic, Fisher, and others. Shortly before the first issue was released, the United Coders Group was formed and joined forces with Enigma to publish the magazine. Its title reflected the editorial motto: "We believe in the power of ZX!"

The first issue attracted considerable attention thanks to its high-quality articles, polished interface, and bundled software, including demo versions of new projects. The second issue, released in the summer of 1997, featured a completely redesigned shell, a significant increase in content, and became one of the notable Russian-language ZX Spectrum magazines of its time. During this period, many contributors became part of the X-Project Association, which united developers from Kharkiv and other cities.

As interest in the ZX Spectrum gradually declined in the late 1990s, the editorial team also became smaller. Work on the third issue took almost sixteen months to complete, but the magazine continued to be published.

After the release of ZX-Power #4, dated 1999 (although it was actually published in early 2000), the editors announced work on the fifth issue. However, ZX-Power #5 was never completed or released, and the reasons remain unknown.
