Chaos Constructions 2005
Day one
At 8:45 I boarded a trolleybus and already at 9:15 I was approaching the LDM. In the past
year, I remember there were a lot of people on the benches in front of the middle entrance
people, this time there was no one. At 9:18 I walked up to the lobby in front of
entrance to the hall and looked into it - the foyer was empty. These two
fact alerted me, but, looking into the nearest cafe-bar and
Seeing Unbeliever (Maxim Muchkaev) from Samara there, I calmed down
and realized that I had arrived correctly and had not mixed up anything. I
looked around and noticed that the foyer had changed a little in
compared to last year - two doors appeared in front of the entrance,
There were high stools along the walls, like in bars, in the back

metal cage. There was either a remote control inside the cage
control of lights under the ceiling, or DJ-mixer

Gradually, one or two people began to come
visitors. At about 9:30 the doors of the hall opened and they took
TV and placed it on a mini stage infoyer. Following
TV came out Vega (Vlad Sotnikov) from St. Petersburg. I approached
Vega asked: is there a lot of work on the Spectrum? According to
Vega, I realized that there would be something to look at - there are already 5 dems alone

According to the schedule, tickets should have been sold for a long time, but neither
tickets, nor a large number of people willing to buy them yet

Two tables were taken out of the hall. Then they brought out boxes of fountain pens,
voting pads and tickets.

Ticket sales have begun. There are only 14 visitors in the foyer. I exchange
a ticket purchased in a store for a blue stripe, which, as in
last year, they stick it around the arm.

The doors are opening according to the schedule, but they are not allowed into the hall yet. In the foyer
about 24 people.
A little later.
Finally, the doors to the hall were opened. Security went through my pockets
and, not finding anything illegal, she let me into the hall.
I immediately go to an exhibition of old computers in the hope of meeting
Anton Popov with ATARs. I can’t find Anton, however, neither can I find ATARI
1040. Apparently, this time Anton couldn’tcome. Computers
much more than last year, but many of them without
monitors. Let me list what I remember: BK-0010 with black and white
monitor, Commodore 64, an incomprehensible miracle in itself, along with
black and white micromonitor in one case, Atari 800, Amiga
500, Amiga 1200 (without monitor), Amstard (?) laptop type,
a couple of Apples, a couple of Silicon graphs, MSX with
monitor, branded ZX Spectrum with rubber keyboard, ZX81,
some other Spectrum clone, SONY I don’t remember what, ATM Turbo-2,
a couple of EU and something else no less ancient with a black and green monitor.
All Spectrums, except ATM, do not have monitors. ATM connected to
LCD monitor.
I take a seat in the hall in the second row, the outermost seat
in the right half of the hall. The first Compo is coming soon, and there are a lot of people
not much - according to my estimates, no more than fifty people.
11:30
The showing of Spectrum graphics begins strictly according to schedule.
I really liked most of the works. By the way, displaying graphics via
the projector has a very positive effect on the work itself - it
as if smoothing out roughness and attributes. In general,
it looked simply wonderful, although a bit pale. Works
shown twice. We were a little behind schedule. Only two
I gave the works below five points, three - eight out of
nine possible, and only one gave 9 points. By the way, she
and won the competition.
There was a noticeable increase in people - about 150 people.The next competition was AY-Music. The people did not run away from the hall.
I didn't like the music for the most part :(
During the break I met with Konstantin Zaitsev (Budder) from
Petrozavodsk, Alexey Chaikin from the village. Hunchbacks (what are they?
namely Alexey, I found out much later) and with Sergei Smirnov
(Gogin). Sergei was immediately taken aside and interrogated
Super Mario Brothers project status item. Seryoga said,
that Mario hasn't changed one bit compared to last year.
I have no desire to finish the game. He promised that by his twenty-fifth birthday
ZX SPECTRUM he will finish the game. With that, I let him go. Then
talked with Kostya about a debugger based on General Sound,
his new copier (WDC=WilD Copier) from CD & HDD FATЗ2 with
music player functions, including General Sound.
Kostya was interested in whether it was possible to make the project commercial and
how many people could buy it? I liked the project
especially its musical part. For this the author was allocated 500
rubles for the development of the program. Kostya really did what he did
and couldn't make Vega, in terms of MOD music player on GS with
CD-ROM.
Then there was 512b Intro Compo. Just two jobs - many times already
seen the Matrix, but the second work (E6/lauHc) I really like
I liked it, it's all so colorful :)
During breaks I run to the exhibition.
8bit 6ХОKb Games was not there, although there were rumors that Newart (Slavka
Kalinin) made some kind of game.
INDuring the breaks they showed several quite interesting films -
about how games are made, what a demo is, graphics, etc.
DJ performance. Dimitry Ghost / ChipCult I liked it - it
there was a long continuous mix of chip music.
I didn't like the Zaubertote/ChipCult performance on Gameboy
- it was a long continuous set of sounds.
As always, the sound volume is simply indecent. Periodically

Someone stuck posters on the walls calling for money to be given to Your
Game. I suspect it was CASIC.
An announcement appeared on the wall of the exhibition that the monitors would be available after
ZX-Compo - and then all computers will be connected. It turns out
monitors were taken to Real Time Code and Music Compo.
Slavka Kalinin appeared and laid out two piles (pieces) at the exhibition
20) CDs with a copy of the Virtual TR-DOS website, dated June 1
2004. There was an advert posted next to it that said it was a freebie. Discs
got taken away pretty quickly...
I really liked 8bit 6ХOKb Demo Compo. There were 6 works in total,
3 of which are clearly in the CPU style (CyberPanks, that is). By the way, I
sat among them in the last rows. Still with a smile
I remember phrases like: “Give me lemonade”, “CPU no one else
loves." The first phrase was spoken by a certain Baldy (I don’t know what his name is)
name), who was woken up before the start of Demo-compo andwhich
there was obvious dryness. He pestered everyone asking them to give him
lemonade. The second phrase originated at the time of the Demo showing
"CPULovzU", which for some reason began to be shown without sound. CPU
asked to stop the demonstration, and then added that the CPU
doesn't love anyone anymore.
The first day came to an end and I went home.
Day two
There are much fewer people at the morning Compo than there were on the first day.
They brought several monitors to the exhibition and turned on the Amiga 1200,
Scorpion, Commodore 64. Vega (?) posted several bare boards from
Sprinters, who could also be taken for free. What's in it
the meaning is unclear.
The Commodore was turned on, but they forgot to load it, and it took half a day
stare at the blue screen of BASIC. Then I got tired of it, and I still
one person attempted to download at least some
game. The person responsible for the exhibition was caught, but he only shook
shoulders - like, he doesn’t know how to load. Having learned that the owner
is Pyotr Sobolev (Frog) and that he “hangs out” behind the stage, I
walked up onto the stage and sneaked behind the screen. There they sat at their computers
members of Real Time Music Compo, Vega was sleeping on the chair, at the computers
Newart, FKO (Kirill Frolov) and a number of others unknown to me were sitting
comrades. Frog wasn't there.
Later, Kirill Frolov came down into the hall and was given instructions
find Frog and drag him to the exhibition so that he can download it for us
game. A few minutes later he leftKirill with instructions on
loading.
I dug out the Rick Dangerous game disc from the floppy box and
then during several breaks and even during some
competition just played it.
I really liked it. It's a pity that Atari was never included - because
there were childhood games: River Raid, about ninja, Montezuma, karate,
in general - everything that attracted us so much to Detsky Mir stores.
I can say that the festival was a great success. Organization this time
was much better. Although there were some overlays like
loss of sound in demos. But almost everything was on schedule.
The award ceremony was delayed again, but this time they didn’t just call
work and the author, but they showed it on the screen, turned on the sound so that
it was clear who was actually being awarded and for what. All
music competitions were held under the screen graphics of plugins
visualization either Winamp or Windows Media Player.
The lights were only turned on during the awards ceremony, and that was for two days.
